the end of the era began here, weeks ago.

I worked there as a student in the 70's

Somehow it seems undignified that they are going to make it the stores limp on till the new year. IMO should close Xmas eve for good and pay staff until official closing date, so they get a break before looking for another job.

PS John Lewis sell dyes cheaper than Woolies

Woolworths was a shop all the family could go in, and everyone could find something they wanted. Even with fake 50% sale, there isnt anything for the family. The sad truth is woolworths needed to reinvent themselves, become a new Ikea or become a new Supermarket like Asda or Tesco. No insight , no bals, have got them into a position any idiot could of got them out of......Whos next , problarly Currys or Comet...or even GAME (this could be 2nd bad year for them). Again stop over charging customer prices most of us can cheaper on the net or abroad.....Any way back to woolies....its truly sad...maybe the goverment could save them...grant of 400million please....Good bye woolies I can remember getting my first lego space ship and lego train set...it was brillant then...and dire now .....sniff , gonna cry (25stone woman just stepped on my foot after seeing a 50% bargain in woolies)
