So the Eurocats have struck again and this time our centurys old betting markets are to be revamped to help entice more people. So no more Burlington Bertie or Top of the head, Tips or Levels you Devils. Shame these Euro laws kill off all our traditions.....talking of things dying, I am having to write this email from hospital. I eat what I thought was an onion but it turned out to be a daffodil bulb. Anyway consultant says I should be out by Spring !

Racing For Change, a cross-industry project designed to shed the sport’s arcane image, is planning to trial decimal odds one weekend this spring. Assuming that the experiment is received reasonably well, the bookmakers will be going decimal – four decades after the currency in their satchels

The average punter will lose out if this goes ahead

Not sure why they would lose out ? Betfair already use decimals rather than fractions ...well decimals plus one anyway

i'd much rather have fractions.

Because if you look at the old system ie 7/2 to 4/1 then 5/1 etc thats a big gap compared to if that goes ahead it would be 13.5 13.6 13.7 13.8 13.9 then finally 14.0 etc

Yes never thought of that .....good thinking

Hopefully bookies will stick to same gaps in odds as now but they always try to squeeze a few extra pounds out of us all
