Ending o2 Broaband early due to connection issues

Hey everyone

Is there a way of getting out an o2 Broadband contract due to loss of connection about 3-4 times a day? I'm getting really hacked off now and it's happening at times when I really need the net

Anyone else experiencing the same issues?

never had a connection dropped since i joined last august but could be different in certain areas

I had a couple of connection issues at one time, turned out that my router needed replacing. Called them up and they sent a replacement out. Haven't had a single problem since.

Have they replaced your router ?

Have heard O2's routers suck. Maybe get yourself something better? Bog standard Netgear DG834G has been great for me since getting it in... 2006 or so? It's definitely not an advanced router by any means, but its cheap!

they haven't offered a replacement router no, what would be a good router to get then?

could go for the Netgear DG834G but will that be alright with o2 service?

if you get the adsl version (the one which has the built in modem) then yes. Just make sure you don't get the cable version as you'll need a separate modem for that one

I'm certainly impressed with Patrick that just said he was away to do...is it an LTD test on the line? they run it for 24hours and will phone me back tomorrow with the results

There actually seeing 8 physical drop outs which for them is pretty bad

I sense you were looking for a get-out clause before you'd actually called them to ask if they could help with the problem lol. O2 have actually been top notch for me with regards to addressing any issues I've had since I've been with them. They understand when you explain what your problem is and they usually take quick action to try and remedy it. I was getting drop-outs frequently for a time, usually after 10pm, but once I took the issue to them it was fixed and alas, I no longer suffer said drop-outs! Here's hoping they are able to solve your problem once they've run their diagnostics on your line :)

I have to wait till 17:30 tonight after which the test will have finished. They have noticed all the drops so I should get a new router sent out, if that doesn't sort the issue then they will have to stop the contract.

which number did u call to get them to do that?
#14
The o2 Broadband number, they put you through to Tech

Ok got the second router and still had the same problems, when loading pages the circle would keep spinning!

Second line rep from o2 done more tests on the line and have now conformed and escalated it for an engineer to come out. He said there must be something on the line affecting my connection, there far too many drop out spikes on my line.
