Energy Saving bulbs... It's finally happened

  Well I bought some of those GLS halogen bulbs from asda a while back. They are meant to last years, but only lasted about a month each. They are good, better than regular energy saving bulbs, but they are quite expensive for something that doesnt last long.

  Those bloody energy saving bulbs are gone so exspensive, compared to when they were first released.

  My energy company gave away loads of energy saving bulbs but they were so slow/dull.
  
  I've gotten some of those 100 watt equivalent to start using soon - fed up of low wattage making us strain our eyes.

  My energy company gave away loads of energy saving bulbs but they were so slow/dull.

  Well that is what im using at the moment a phillips 100w equivalent..... its bloody awful!
  hence why i'm after a suitably suggested alternative!

  You might want to wait for the prices to come down. But they really are what you want to be buying, check lumens not wattage equivalent. When you consider price take into account that the fluorescent tube bulbs only last 5 years if that. These are 25+ years.

  Hi I've just had to go out myself and buy new bulds. i deceided to have a quick check in our local B&M and they had the old bulds in there. Glad they had then as sainsburys wanted £8 for them and got the for £1.50. Also check pound shops as I've been told they still sell them as well.

  it was ebay, I asked for more but he said he couldn't source them any more. I have 3 on a 5 bulb rack because 5 would be too bright.

  I find the more expensive you go with the energy saver bulbs the better/quicker they are at start up.
