My car's oil check light has come on. Last time i did it i text castrol and they told me some products that were ok.
this time i did it on their website and it seems to think my car is a slightly different model and says to get Edge 5w40.

I've tried a couple of other site and some are giving me very different numbers??

Does the 5w40 stay the same accross brands?

I've got a peugeot 307 1.6 petrol 56plate s model.

Very confused! Plus is there any where to get some delivered cheap??

Thanks!

Why don't you try your owners manual for the recommended oil, pop into halfords of your local motor factors and buy some. And check your oil before the light comes on??

If the light comes on it's too low and doing damage.

Are you allowed to vote too??

There so many different types, best of waiting for someone who knows which oil is correct for you car on here, and then find it cheapest online (If you are in no rush to use the car) Or pop down to halfords and buy some.

Go to Halfords web site, put in your registration number, it will tell you which is the correct oil for your car.

I didn't call you thick, you must realise that an engine uses oil?

It's not that hard to check it every couple of weeks.

Obviously i know an engine uses oil................... as for checking it every few weeks?? I don't think the majority of people remeber to do it that frequently. Congratulations if you do.

Your comment about voting was condescending.

Getting the right oil can sometimes be very difficult , My local autoshop has twice given me the wrong oil , which has led to the popping of a seal and spewing out engine oil over the engine . I run 2 Vauxhalls and of late when I buy oil have been told Vauxhall have changed there spec and SAE type for their models . I have been given different oils by different sales staff . I have been told that the Vauxhall oil is good and cheap , so I'm going to source it out .
My advice is to google a Peugeot forum and read the threads on oil . I'm a member of 2 Vauxhall owners forums and get quite a lot of info regarding my Zafira & Vectra .
