lol if Rio doesn't go to the world cup then England aren't getting anywhere near the final. I think Zamora will be in the squad

I think Carragher is the main surprise for me !
#3
Some talk of Owen Hargreaves going which would be very odd as Capello talks about players on form and would be a kick in the n**s to all other players who play week in week out

If he's not fit enough to play what would be the point though :? Going by that thinking we may as well put Beckham in the squad too

As a surprise call up I can see Gary Neville being in there too.

I reckon it'll be something like this, if Ferdinand is fit to go:

Green
James
Hart

Johnson
Neville
Brown
Carragher
Terry
Upson
Ferdinand
Lescott
King
Cole
Baines
Warnock

Young
Milner
Gerrard
Barry
Carrick
Lampard
Wright-Phillips
Lennon
Walcott
Cole

Rooney
Crouch
Zamora
Defoe
Heskey

There's really no other player like him and Barry though. If he's fit, I'd take him.

Rio not going wouldn't be a massive loss because he hasn't looked all that when he has been fit. A partnership of Terry and King would be good, with Dawson backing up.

Think I would prefer to see Darren Bent at the expense of Heskey

I think Adam Johnson may have played his way into contention. He has been playing more than Wright-Phillips, Lennon, Cole

Mine would be pretty much the same. Although I would swap Heskey for Bent seeing as Bent has scored 24 goals in the league this season and Heskey has scored 3

If Heskey goes to the World Cup then England deserve to go out at the first hurdle. No World Cup winning team should have a striker who is that bad

If you use a target man to lead the line and win knock-downs for the likes of Gerrard, Lampard and Rooney then he's one of very few candidates we actually have.

Other than Crouch, who actually knows how to score too, and Zamora, injuries permitting.

I agree that Heskey is a great target man - Capello obviously see something in him whereas many fans don't - I suppose that's why he's England manager and we're not though :)

I wonder if the Dutch feel the same way when they see Dirk Kuyt's name on the teamsheet ??

Says it all:
Heskey
2009/10 Premier League
Games: 31 Goals: 3 Assists: 2

A target man should be at least getting some assists if not scoring
#13
Im sure Camilla would have made the squad if she hadn't broke her leg in training!! :-D
#14
We should just count ourselves lucky that we have so many quality strikers. If you look at the midfield, I can't see many goals coming from any of those players (based on their form for England).

Bring scholesy out of international retirement and we'll have the world cup sewn up

Sorry for the chortle here, but I recall a few months back you poo pooing Messrs King and Dawson. Change of heart or finally realised how good they are?

Both - been mightily impressed with them, especially King. I always had reservations about his fitness but he seems to manage it well.

Barry is apparently not in the frame due to his injury.

Bring Scholes out of retirement.

Rio the captain :w00t: dont he have an automatic spot
#19
Darren Bent should get called up
#20
What time is it expected to be announced?

playing international football is much different to club football. players like zamora, carlton cole, just are nowhere near good enough.

take theo walcott for example not the greatest player but his sheer pace can make things happen BZ AND CC have nothing special about them.

dawson should go king should go if he can play all the game, also i would take gary neville as a starter not to keen on johnson.

Huddlestone, Bent, Dawson, Baines, Carragher and Joe Cole all in 30-man England World Cup squad

No Lescott, Neville, Zamora or Hargreaves
