Wellbeck. What a joke.

Waste of time as usual. Oh and Barry as captain?! :D

Personally think this is a Ghana win, They're not ranked 16th in the World for nothing, plus they're already annoyed that we've dropped everyone, 21,000 tickets the Ghanian's have also sold for this.

Prediction - 2-0 Ghana

currently ghana 4/1 to win lump on

Yeah, should have made Welbeck captain. It'll be his only appearance, so Capello could have at least made it memorable.

Pointless friendly. I hope Ghana stuff us.

There are pros and cons for friendlies though, if we play the first team then some moan about not giving the understudies a chance, if we play the second string some moan about it being a none event and a waste of time.

Personally I'd like to see the return of an A and B team so the 11 understudies get regular games with regular players alongside them, then when required they have played 20 or so games in the England set up.

Friendlies aren't going to please everyone, fact.

I'd rather see the first team play to get experience against a team that progressed further than us in the WC, maybe we could learn something from it for the next big comp.

Does anyone really care about internationals anymore?

Well our players don't, the manager doesn't seem that interested. I think it's just the media who are now.

Excellent!!!!!!!!!! I have something to help me fall asleep tonight!!! :D

Stopped watching Engand friendlies years ago. This looks even more pointless than usual

3-1 england & hopefully parker dont get injured

It'll be tough, Their a strong team, Quite physical and were impressive in the World Cup, Hope no one gets injured, Barry shouldn't even be in the team, The most over-rated player in the history of football, Serious.
#14
9/2 inside Betfred for a Ghana win. Happy days.

Ghana wont win thats for sure, but a pointless friendly which will no doubt cost a few clubs needless injuries at a crucial time in the season...absolute joke!

P.S. Barry to keep the armband forever oO

just because you're a United fan! Even being a City fan, I agree that Barry isn't amazing and can be awful at times. But on the whole he is pretty consistent and is a decent midfielder. I'd still prefer it if Mancini played Milner instead though. As for the Ghana game, complete waste of time. Nothing at all will be gained from it, probably just an injury or two and a boring, slow paced game. Now I've said that, it'll probably be 4-3!

What's wrong with Welbeck? He's a young player capable of scoring goal's, He's on loan to gain experience, He's as good as the next young potential striker, Certainly better than anything Man City have produced recently, Do they even produce young English players? .

My opinion on Barry has nothing to do with him being a City player, Milner is a much better player with a lot more about him than Barry. I just don't see anything about Barry that excites me, may be a nonsense sort of player who's job is essentially just to fill a space, But he's not going to produce a goal scoring pass very often without it being a fluke, He's a simpleton, Average at the very most, Not of the calibre England need, He's a liability.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Total rag nonsense, the days of giggs, scholes, beckham are long gone.
#20
Ghana aren't going to be easy opposition, they will be a much tougher test than Wales were and we only won that game two nil with our A team. I think a draw might be on the cards, I do think it will be a close game otherwise a narrow win for our reserves.

They produced Danny Sturridge and he's in great form. Surprised he didn't get the call-up.

Fully home grown players are difficult to produce with all the foreign talent, That's the problem all clubs are faced with, However we do buy lots of young talent and produce good players.

All these years without a trophy must be really hard to take.

Ha, I give them that, Sturridge is a good talent, So is Cleverly.

Do City produce young English talent?! I do hope you're joking. Micah Richards, Daniel Sturridge, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Nedum Onuoha, Michael Johnson....

Yeah, but I'd give the credit to Shrewsbury for finding Hart. But well done to City for picking him up for half a million!
#28
Enjoyable game, defence looks a bit weak. Just hope that whatever substitutions are made that we don't lose the momentum.

Fair enough, Neither have won a trophy at City though.

Well taken goal.........was a foul in the build up on the Ghana defender but who cares. :D
#31
Great finish by Carrol, Ghana physical and dangerous, England's defence looks a bit weak and error prone ( Thanks to Barry's back pass ). Hart making some good saves but traditional calamity value's kick in and spoil his real ability as a keeper.

I hear ya

I tell you everyone has a friend that says "I can do better than that" when watching a match to which we reply "Doubt it", but when that fat friend with a gimpy leg and glass eye actually says "I can do better than that" when watching Carrick play I just have to agree with him.

He wants enough time on the ball to maybe pull out his phone and send a picture message of the crowd to his mates. Poor guy, cant even grow a beard, he has a bar-code tash, not a look I much admire. Fergie likes him though

So does Darren Fletcher especially as a wing man on a Saturday night
