I would hope we don't mess it up on Wednesday but I won't be holding my breath :whistling:

any reason harvie316..?:santa:

Interesting how McLaren was so adamant that England would still be in the frame on Wednesday.............................

If I were a cynical person I would be shouting FIX !

Oh wait, I am cynical,

FIX !!!!

to be honest, if we do qualify come next summer we will all of forgotten how bad qualifying was and have our usual confidence that were gonna win!

sadly history shows we'll no doubt go out to portugal and scolari in the quarters!

I dont like it when each and every tourny England are in, they say "this is our best squad, I think we will go all the way", then they play below par (as always) and get knocked out, then pick a blame guy like rooney, beckham or Seamon as they done before :| lol
#7
Always happens though...If we qualify then i doubt we will reach the quarter or semis anyway.....Exoect so much and always disappoint.

What's wrong with optomism? When I hear it, I just think its being spoken by people who haven't got a clue. England should now qualify and if they did, they would be one of the favorites to win it. But we both know its unlikely to happen.

I dont recall people blaming Seamon - yes he made a clanger - but I cant remember him being made a scapegoat. Of Beckham and Rooney however, their stupidity did affect the outcome. Its only right they should have been criticised. Or do you see that differently?

I dont recall anyone scapegoating Pearson etc when they missed penalties. Can you see the big difference?

problem is we got a person that has never accomplished anything as a manager managing the national team
#10
very true, he wasn't first choice either, probably not even second...

Isnt that a qualification?:whistling:

If you sack a manager for under achieving its quite rediculous the number 2 (who is envolved in that under achieving) should get the job!
#12
Don't you all just wish you still had, Our Sven? :giggle:
#13
@ guv, they do, they were all like Beckham shoundt of played he was 100% this and that, I cant remeber the exact things what they were saying because it was so long ago. If England win anything in the next 15years, i will eat my shoe.

"we need to get rid of Sven hes a **** manager" now hes 3rd with man city, and they are the only team to beat Man U this season :|
#14
Scotland deserved to get through, England on the other hand don't and I hope that Croatia beat us purely for the fact that McPlonker will go and we might just get someone in half decent who actually has a clue about football.
#15
simon_g............i'm sure 99% of Englans fans don't want Mclaren as manager, but to say you would rather us not get through to euro 2008 and Mclaren gets the sack? Come on mate.....as long as we get there we could have chaz and dave in charge as far as i'm concerned.

It's the players out on the pitch who need to perform to their potential in my book.

Hear, hear. Sooner we get rid of the worst manager England have seen in my lifetime, the better

Thats the thing, I would rather have a decent team in the final with a possible chance of getting past the 1/4 finals than the mess we have currently. The fact is that we do not have a decent team (or the players we have do not "work" together very well) and this can be only put down to bad management. Don't get me started on team selection, please!

Individually we have very good players (with a few exceptions) yet as a team we fail, constantly. If we manage to get into the finals and field the team we have I am 100% certain we will not get as far as the 1/4 finals, so I ask you, whats the point?

As it happens I doubt we will get past Croatia next week anyway, so this could all be academic.

Ooooo, how about we all vote for our best CURRENT In-ger-land XI then? Take into granted current form, and injuries can be taken into account. What i mean is, i know Rooney/Owen/Ferdinand are out but let's play a game here and pretend they're all available:

1. James
2. A. Cole
3. Richards
4. R. Ferd/Woodgate (sooner have him if he was fit)
5. Terry
6. Gerrard
7. SWP
8. Hargreaves
9 Rooney
10. Owen
11. Barry

4-4-1-1

If you wanna play it proper, the BBC have a squad selector based on those in the squad and available

Lampard is way better then barry, lampard either scores or gets an assist every game for Chelsea, and hes been there player of the season.

I can. Both got red cards for stupidity that cost us dearly. If they commited a foul in the act of getting the ball, then so be it, but wasnt how it was.

If England win anything in the next 15years, i will eat my shoe.

That could be interesting!:giggle:

He's bought some decent players, no argument there. Lets see where they end up! Top teams dont get beat 5-0!!!! (Besides West Ham beat Man U and Arsenal twice last season!!!!)

But cant play alongside Gerrard, who is a better player and option for England. How many shots and goals did Lampard make in the last World Cup. Its a truely awful statistic!

You're choosing an individual there, NOT a team.....try it, please, just for a laff :)

Oi Guv, leave Svensensational alone lol! The Chelsea game was a blip, we've come good since :)
#25
lampard over gerrard this season, lampard has alredy got over 10> goals.
#26
Lampard would be on the bench for me. Granted he is a great player for Chelsea, but in an England shirt he is ***** on a stick. The opposite goes for Crouch, pathetic at club level but seems to pull it out the bag for England.

My 11...

Robinson
G.Neville
Terry
King (if the swine is ever fit enough to play for England)
A.Cole
Becks (Still the best crosser of a ball in the game IMHO)
Gerrard (the only player apart from J.Cole that can change a game in a second and has done sooooo many times for club & country)
Carrick
J.Cole
Rooney
Owen

I've been lucky like i say with 2 great seller's on here already so, be nice to give summat back

They wont be there at the end of the season. Over achieving at its best.

Yes, definately a shame.

Would have been nice to have some fans there that "would" be great and "would" take it on the chin when they get sent home rather than smashing the place up.

i dont understand why england dont deserve to qualify? ofc we do we have got enough points we are still upthere and can still win the group, which we will, do croatia or russia deserve to qualify so much more than us?? they both just lost to macedonia and israel, so whats the diff on england losing the odd game ? did we expect to win all 11 or so qualifying games ? even the best teams dont win every game!!

GK - Carson or James (can't decide between them)

RB - Richards
CB - Ferdinand
CB - Terry
LB - Bridge

LM - Joe Cole
CM - Gareth Barry
CM - Stevie Gerrard
RM - Beckham or SWP

ST - Owen
ST - Rooney

Despite the fact that Lampard has been Chelsea player of the season, scored goals in the Prem or a hat trick against Leicester, the fact still stands he cannot play in the same midfield as Gerrard. This has been proved a number of times under Sven and McClaren.

Beckham or SWP - Beckham's delivery and set piece ability is second to none but he can't beat his man, whereas SWP can beat his man but his delivery still needs a lot of work on.

Carson or James - James has been in good form the past 18 months but is around 37 now whereas Carson is only 22 and got plenty of years left in the game. Coco the Clown Robinson would not even get in the squad.
