England Shirts banned from Clubs and Pubs

Although it isnt the law, police will take action if they are seen not to prevent crime. So if anything happens it'll get blamed on the england shirt and the pub/club will be fined. Because of this 80% of pubs are looking to ban england shirts. What a joke ! It's meant to prevent racism but I can see it causing it if anything.

it's been like that with most football tops in the big chains (at least here) for a few years.

if those pubs want to be empty on footy days, let them

people should boycott and stick to it

so it says nothing about racism in that report?
#7
Why not just ban the wc all together? pathetic,

I will be waving my flag outside my window and i will be wearing the shirt every ****ing day of the wc!!
#8
As someone said, many places have had a no Football shirt policy for a while. As the people wearing them are more times than not the ones who end up in trouble.

I couldn't find the original report I looked at. I know a pub owner who seemed to think this was the reason for it.

 I can guarantee you now that I will be wearing my England shirt every single time we are playing. Regardless of whether the pub bans it or not

The advice comes in a letter from the Metropolitan Police to pubs in Croydon, South London

Pubs are not obliged to follow the advice, but it warns: "Police will not hesitate to use powers under the Licensing Act should we find you are not actively supporting the prevention of crime. What all that about ? what a load of ******** from the overeating met again, So in other words if you don't ban football tops, use plastic glasses and have bouncers we are going to shut you down by abusing our powers again p off and let us enjoy the football.

Eurgh, this has been spreading around Facebook like wildfire. All thats happened is some policemen have suggested to some pub owners to watch out for people wearing general football shirts, not just england ones. Its a fairly sensible idea aimed at stopping violence, and for a change, The Sun and the gullible public have blown it all out of proportion, and started some race arguement, when it has nothing to do with immigration at all.

Local pubs wont be affected, it will be more the bigger places where they will be having door staff on during it. This will easily stop people entering wearing football tops anyway.

You don't have to wear football tops to show your support, doesn't make you any more a fan than the next person. Although I might buy the USA, Slovenia and Algeria top aswell as the Spain top to wear to show my support.

This is utter crap.......which I why I spammed it the first time

Doubt it if your get many other football tops from other country's fans being worn in pubs in croydon also nothing sensible about this at all makes no sense just going to cause for grief if you ask me, what is a football top anyway who will be the judge on rhis one :? You could never picture this happening in any other country not being aloud to have a drink and wear your countrys top with pride when we win the world cup except this ****ed up place.

That link seems to have a lot of idiots on it who are using it as an excuse to talk about non English.

I heard about this a few days ago and dont think its down to racism or to stop fights due to race but more that the stereotypical footie fan who goes drinking likes to get a bit rowdy as they have too much thats why I said last week I dont like things like the World Cup as the streets and bars have loads of idiots in yelling and causing fights if England win or lose games.

I dont think in the least its due to being PC.

That's the best part of the world cup, after the football of course

In my local pub, every colour, creed, gender, diversity and race drinking there imaginable, you'd stand out like a sore thumb if not wearing England or your National colours come match day.
What antediluvian corner of England do you live in?
Come to Manchester where the ONLY thing that matters is your football allegiance....you'll be welcome and tolerated....all else is media propaganda.

This country is full of idiots.

i'm on my way to buckingham palace to take the flag down as it may affend someone.

THIS IS ENGLAND.

you would think the pubs would be happy for the footie fans seeing as they have a hard time of late, smoking ban alcohol prices etc

with all the beer deals at supermarket i can see those fans turning their backs.

Saying that the pub/club places in my town dont allow footie shirts anyhoo due to dress code, but thats after a certain time when the doorman come on shift, normal pubs wont ban them

It's because in this country, the football culture is go out get as steamed as possible in the shortest space of time, football shirts+rival teams+drunks=trouble. It's because of the idiotic mentality in this country sadly, nothing to do with the rule makers, it's the rule breakers. It's got nothing to do with race or Engeeeeeeeeeeeeerland. But that won't stop the bigotry.

This is not news spoons have banned all football shirts as long as I can remember, if it's such an issue get a nice BBQ, nice tv, cheap supermarket booze and enjoy it in your garden with friends much more fun.

Pubs can refuse to let in who they wish.

no wonder pubs are closing down at an alarming rate

my team Dundee United won in the Scottish Cup on Saturday when we got back into the city centre certain pubs and clubs wouldn't allow you entry with the team colours on there was even a tribute Dundee United band playing a cup winning party in a club and they still wouldn't let you in with club colours

absolutely silly

I see no problem wearing colours during big games/events just daft really its not like you'll struggle for choice if one pub refuses you entry for wearing team colours theres always another pub that will let you in :thumbsup:

+1

they will be the first to complain that their profits are down from the last WC or something to that effect, I hope they lose out tbh now, deserved

on another note, anyone see that TV ad with all the countries in national dress, having a laugh, being colourful and joyful, and then you see the representation for England......................................a crap TV in a house garden watching the WC, seems like thats what the pubs want to me!
