At least nobody need worry about underestimating Pietersen now :p

After 2 consecutive Man of the Match performances, KP will be unavailable due to the imminent birth of his child which means much will be expected from the other 2 South African contingent at the top of the order to lay a solid platform.

Speed of the wicket would be a factor too with a slow wicket probably favouring the slower NZ bowlers. In 20/20 it is more difficult for a batsman to generate pace and (especially on slower wickets) line and length isn't the type of delivery to bowl on.

Come in England!!!!!!!!

starts at 6.30 right.

Come on England you can do this!

West Indies is my first team, but I do love to watch England.

I think they'll go on to win it this year

England and Australia have been the most impressive this year.

Australia have been standout for me. They have used the conditions well with Tait and Nannes causing problems with pace. On a hard, bouncy pitch they will be favourites against anybody. Strength in depth in their batting was evident against Sri Lanka. However, they do not have an Eoin Morgan though!

Back to the current match, Lumb plays across the line and pays with his wicket and is replaced by Morgan. Let's see if my favourite player can pull off miraculous shots with his wristy strokeplay.

Cameron White is incredible, however. Saw him many times in the last few seasons and he is an awesome hitter.

Cameron White does hit some lusty blows as does all of the current Australian line up. I may be biased here but Eoin Morgan plays some of the most bizarre and unorthodox shots I have ever seen, even more extravagant than Dilshan's scoop shot.

It is pleasing to see that the balance of the England team has been improved with the removal of stroke players with players who can actually loft the ball over the boundary.

I've never rated bopara though.

Ravi Bopara has a very correct batting stance - a la Mark Ramprakash but he lacks the mentality in test cricket. The 20/20 form does suit him better as he showed in the IPL but I feel his batting style is "too much textbook" style to enable to enhance his reputation as a 20/20 player and his mental fortitude not strong enough as a test player.

Going back to Mr. Morgan, he's just hit a one handed six by adjusting very quickly to a ball that cut back. It defies belief!

commentators seem to be supporting new zealand.

Not really. He was suggesting that NZ should stifle Morgan and co with slow bowling which is the correct move on a slow wicket but Morgan makes a mockery of that by despatching the slow left armer to the boundary. The idea is to force an increase in the run rate and then use the quicker bowlers twhen the run rate is higher.

NZ have no idea how to set a field against Morgan. The dexterity and the ability to rotate his wrists to direct his shots is just absurd. The target should be well within reach now.

Yeah its brilliant watching him bat.

Morgan goes after a pivotal innings. It should still be a comfortable win for England.

Ah that was the reason you were cheering for England. Pakistan seems to progress through the back door as it were. They were poor in the early stages of World Cup in 1992 and sneaked through to win it. A similar set of circumstances occurred last year and history may repeat itself again.

lol, tbh this year its either the aussies or england.

Australia have had their fair share of success in recent years but I still have them as favourites. I would say the current England team is on a par with the Sri Lankans with Pakistan being very unpredictable either being brilliant on a certain day and self destructing on others.

I agree.

I do fancy England for it though.

3 teams had 2 points but Pakistan had the superior NRR.

We're playing brilliantly and Brenan is out trump card. Hopefully KP returns too - as for Bopara !!

Nothing like the IPL to flatter your credentials!

Napier would have been a better choice.

KP will be back. Bopara is actually highly rated by his peers. For the purists who study technique, he has very good stance - compact with good balance. However, he doesn't have the mentality for test cricket. Regarding 20/20, a copybook technique goes out of the window so that's where KP and Morgan can play with the style and freedom they like, whereas Bopara and Collingwood may struggle. I do like Bresnan - a very rugged competitor but the current England set up is blessed with excellent players. Swannie and Broadie have performed exceptionally well. Lumb and Kieswetter have filled a gaping hole at the top of the order. Even Wrighty (of whom I think plays in an ugly manner) has had success.

It's a very strong team indeed and justifiably one of the favourites but I still have to say that Australia are the team to beat on fast wickets. As I said, Australia may have lots of KP style batsmen but they don't have an Eoin Morgan. I would also fear Sri Lanka too as they also have deft and wristy players of their own such as Dilshan and they have a certain Jayawardene firing on all cylinders.
