Englands Shame

Looks as if its not just Rangers or Scotland that has a minority of scumbag fans.

Wonder why there hasn't been any more coverage of this, English mp's calling for Chelsea to be kicked out of europe or Gordon Brown condemning the actions of a mindless minority.

Football is for plonkers. And this is as good a evidence as any to prove my point

No coverage, as its nothing to do with the Anti-Scottish Bias thats permeates the media.

Hundreds of Chelsea fans have a riot out of only Hundreds of supporters that were there.
Hundreds of Rangers fans have a riot out of about 200,000 supporters that were there.

Which one gets front page attention, and which one gets hushed up.
Same old , same old.

If it makes Scotland look bad, its front page news, makes England look bad and its relegated to a single column half way through the paper.

You may have a point here, but there are other factors. Notably, where the media actually were last night. The difference between the Rangers riot and the Chelsea riot is that the media were already there in their hundreds covering the match in Manchester. The same can't be said for the Fulham area last night - they were all in Moscow. And there is also something to be said about the degree of violence. From what I've gathered so far, the Rangers riot was more intense, involved more acts of disorder and lasted much longer. But as I said, what you say is also true. The British press are known to be biased when covering 'us and them' issues. You only had to see coverage of the Northern Ireland troubles, the Falklands War and the two Iraq wars to see that.

Difference is, the Scottish press that were there, totally ripped into Manchester for creating the shambles, as they never even took 5 minutes to properly plan it.
The English press werent there in force, but came on the scene when they heard the trouble and gleamed all their coverage from what the Manchester Council told them.
English press blamed the Gers fans for dropping loads of litter, pee'ing in the streets and etc, when they werent even there to see that there was no bins and no portaloos provided.
The Scots press noted it as they some of them were in the square all day with the fans.

And the Rangers riot was more of a mess, because the police had no plans in place.
ie, when the screens came down, they pushed fans down one street, then more cops pushed them back up it again.
Same with the Riot cops, the idiots that were there were getting pushed between different sets of riot cops, so just making the situation even worse.

Yes, good points. It always pays to check the press reports from both sides as your examples show. I know this too from local reports of riots etc in The Derry Journal during the troubles. You not only got a different perspective than the BBC / British press, you also got a lot of the detail and context that the big news organisations weren't interested in reporting.
