English cricket is a shambles, we are going to get stuffed in the summer against the Aussies. The team is a horror and you can read (laugh) at it all for free! Have nightmares without paying a penny.....

Do England still play cricket?

I blame West Indian groundsmen!

Shambles is a bit strong. Agreed, we are struggling to bowl teams out, but atleast we're scoring runs. If (and it's a big if) we can get Fred fit, we can still beat the convicts with chips on their shoulders.

To be fair we are a bit unlucky to lose that series - yeah we blew it in the first test big time but it was so close today...

We were not a shambles. The 5th day pitches are 3rd day pitches over the world. Look how many runs were scored.
In England we prepare pitches that give bounce, swing, turn etc...the West Indies prepare pitches that offer nothing.
Windies have some class cricketers as do England. You will see in May the gulf between the two sides.

cricket is boring
i even yawn just thinking about it

Declaring when we did was a shambles, after 2005 we have been poor. To much over celebrating and now we look daft, I dread how this summer will be against Aussies, who have just slaughtered SA....

I thought it was a bit of an odd declaration but in hindsight it was the correct choice, I think we gave ourselves as much chance of winning the match as we possibly could. But as said the pitches really weren't up to it...

the delayed declaration has echoes to the 'bravado' india tour. a few more overs, and they'd have victory.

still, it was england who capitulated in the first test, and paid the price.

Gayle is a far better cricketer than KP, and a better captain . .

Hahahaha. Please tell me you are kidding. This is a better captain who was bowling Brendan Nash when they should have been piling pressure on England?!? Take a look at some stats on batting averages etc. This is the same man who had a hand in Sulieman Benn not playing on this type of pitch. England went into the 5th test with 2 full time spinners and West Indies went in with one part time spinner who is Gayle who is no better or worse than Pietersen.

considering aus have mauled saffers in their own backyard following defeat at home, england look likely to get beat. the hangover from '05 is still present . .

kp's been playing 4 years, hs; 226, wickets; 4

gayle: 9 yrs, hs; 317, wickets; 70

haha indeed

gayle's average is lower through having played 30 more tests. he's been a key plyer for windies , where barring sarwan, chanderpaul, lara, and more recently ramdin, have rarely been a threat.

Gayle stops playing for 5 years and he KP will eclipse Gayles runs ten fold. Might not with wickets but Gayles decision making is poor. His field placements are lazy and he just doesnt know how to force a game if his bowlers arent performing.

Must be something to do with the fact that KP isn't a captain.:)

England lost it with their lack of preparation. As usual we have lost the first test in the series. This agve the windies all the opportunities they needed to prepare concrete pitches, that would almost guarantee them three draws. England did well to push them on two separate occasions, but they withheld the pressure (just!) on both occasions.

It will be a different story when they visit in May.

As for the Aussies. A new team will not have it all their own way, especially if we can find some consitency with our bowling attack.
