In march i posted a deal direct from http://www.epson.co.uk for a RX685 printer

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/364358/epson-stylus-rx685-all-in-one-photo

I bought one of these printers on the 24/03/09 so it is under 12 months old by many months

The printer has gone faulty and does not recognise any cartridge in the T0802 slot ,i have tried 2 original cartridges thinking i had a faulty one but none work

I still have the original purchase emails and contacted epson 2 days ago , they arranged to swap the printer at my door step today because i live many miles away from my nearest repair centre . Today nobody arrived so i contacted epson again , i was informed there was a mistake and could only swap my printer when they have them back in stock , but the printer was discontinued many months ago so how long will i have to wait ?

I have contacted my credit card company who really have said they cannot help because the item was working and it has been more than 28 days .

So it seems like im stuck with a faulty printer until epson can me another in stock

I have asked them to come back to me first thing in the morning and tell me can i have the same spec printer but in a different model

What advice can you give or action can i take as this is not good service from a large company such as Epson

Thank you and rep to any genuine answers with help

If the printer has been obsolete some time, they might have some refurbs lying around somewhere. Epson have always been fair to me. Give them chnace to call you back and I am sure they will sort you out. If they cant supply you with the same printer then in my opinion they must supply you with an equiv model. Note the equivalent model might be cheaper than you originally paid, but that the way technology goes :-)

Hope it goes ok for you

i'd imagine eventually they'll give in and just give you a new model printer, when they do be sure to get them to replace your ink cartridges as well as they'll be useless in the new printer.

According to WHICH?
To get a product replaced or repaired
Step one
Depending on the type of product and how long you have had it, do one of the following:

Contact the retailer you bought it from, tell it about the problem and ask for a replacement, or to arrange to have it repaired. Ultimately, the retailer can choose which of these to do (normally depending on which is cheapest), but to begin with, you can ask for whichever you would prefer.
If the product is within its guarantee period, contact the manufacturer, explain the problem, and ask for a repair or replacement.
Step two
If the retailer or manufacturer will not help, write to the retailer (not the manufacturer) saying that, under the Sale of Goods Act, the item is not of ‘satisfactory quality’ and you are exercising your right to have it repaired or replaced.

Tell the retailer that if it doesn’t arrange to do either of these within a reasonable time, you will start proceedings in the small claims court (see sample letter).

If you get no response from the retailer or if it has gone bust, and you paid for the item with a credit card, you can take your claim to the card company.

You have the same right if you paid with finance that was arranged by the retailer.

Thank you for the reply , my card company do not want to know so i will be patient but strict with epson

Also in this case the retailer is also the manufacturer

Thank you

Yet again epson have failed to contact me this moring as they promised

This is there response on live help

I have spoken to a manger, we are only able to offer you a like for like service as outlined in the warranty. This is a stock dependant service, once the printer comes back in to stock we will swap the printer for you.

This is a laugh , they offered me a discount on there extended warranty if i bought a brand new printer from them .
I informed them they do not have a warranty as mine is under warranty and they cannot help me so what is there extended warranty worth , nothing

They have informed me they do not know when they will have one in , i asked would it be 2009 or 2010 and they say they did not know so really i take that as 2010 , ifit was sooner they would say 2009 . They are fobbing me off hoping i go away
