error message on my new laptop reads:

Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player.

Can anyone tell me ... in blonde language preferably... how to get it working.

The best result will be to install the player again and it will probably switch itself on.

When that happens, you usually need to delete the registry entries.

tool -> options -> content tab -> enable javascript

Firefox will not play music unless you have a plugin. I use IE View 1.3.7, which allow Firefox to mimic IE.

This is it: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/downloads/file/25368/ie_view-1.3.7-fx+mz-win.xpi

I'll add instructions here for use in a moment.

Sorry just figured it wont work that way. Do this

1) go to TOOLS
2. Choose Add-ons
3. In the box type IE view
4. Scroll down list until you come to See all 10 results
5. Click on IE view (not Lite version)
#20
After it is installed, you might have to restart Firefox, notice the Firefox logo bottom right. Click this and it will change the page to mimic IE. Clicking it again to return to Firefox.

Does that plugin just allow FF to use windows media player? If its asking for javascript and a flash plug-in, thats not going to sort it!

Not exactly. Give it a go yourself and see what you think. It is a tiny add-on
#23
YS - if javascript is on the only other thing you can do is make sure you have the newest flash player installed since thats what the site is telling you you're missing. Try going to whatever site you're on in IE, does it work? if you don't have flash player installed my guess is that it won't, and that mimic IE thing won't sort your problem.

I've just added it... as a web developer I'm not even going to start on why its a bad idea to make a highly standards compliant browser look like a totally non-compliant abomination of a browser! I understand some people prefer IE though and most sites are made to work with IE first and FF second but any developer worth their wage makes sure it looks the same in both! ...sorry, turned in to a bit of a rant there! :whistling:

I'd do as chrishill said, reinstall Flash Player. There is a direct link on my first post. After installing it try it out in Internet Explorer. If you get music, go over to Firefox. If it does not play music, then add the add-on as I suggested.

LOL. I really don't understand why Firefox does not build the ability to play music into the browser. It can't be that difficult! We live in hope. This is why I use Avant rather than IE or Firefox (especially now Avant is a browser in its own right).

Enjoyed your rant btw!
