Estimated Meter readings.

Like many people, I've been dreading the arrival of my gas bill. It came today and they have estimated my usage, as they did on my last bill 3 months ago. Nobody has been in to read it but the figure they estimated is EXACTLY what my meter is showing today to the actual digit. I was gobsmacked. Despite the cold weather the bill is about £30 more than the same bill from 12 months ago. So I guess I haven't used that much more, but still big enough, though!

If it keeps the bills down, I'll turn a blind eye. You wouldn't have the number for my local tax inspector would you??

I got my meter read for first time in ages recently - and few days later got a cheque in for nearly £200 as I have overpaid :-D

Was paying direct debit of £45 a month and now its been changed to £32

I too do monthly readings online, it does make winter bills higher than averaging over the year, but it also means the energy company doesnt get too far ahead on my money!

Wow that's quite freaky!

I work for a energy company and the closest estimated read i've seen before is one unit out, compared to the acctual reading.

They work out the estimate by looking at your daily average usage for the same quarter, the previous year, abit of useless information for you ;-)

If you work for an energy company, can you tell me how my bill is so high?! Would it have anything to do with the fact that I lived with 3 people who had electric stand alone heaters on 24/7? ****** **** ****** ********!!!!
