Has anyone a 12 year old child they can offer to run the economy?

The pound is down almost a third on what it was against the dollar last year.

The only thing I have noticed currently falling faster than the pound is the ruble (and ladies of the nights' knickers!).

If our currency had kept parity with last year's dollar price - and the fuel companies were taking the same percentage in profits, we would be paying about 75p a litre for petrol now (based on the change in fuel cost excluding tax - then readding the tax).

The pound was massively over-valued for a very long time, this is just the over-correction and will undoubtably meet more of an average point in the future.

Ah - currency experts. Can I get quidco as well?

Seems the Irish will do well out of this again. Think they might be interested in investing in our property market as well?

Irish? So, it's their fault, all of it. Now someone will have the solution to all this financial problems. It's all about opening accounts in Eurozone countries and transferring capital between accounts at the exact moment which will be posted here for our benefit.
If anyone wants to send me details of their bank accounts I have a friend in Nigeria who will accept the information and arrange all the transfers on our behalf. You can even put up your house and business and wife to gain the full benefits.

Its always difficult to judge tone in posts, but impression I get is that you are a bit peeved. I thought it was an obvious comment that the Irish may benefit. I have NO grudge against the Irish. This may provide oportuntunities for them along with all others in eurozone.

I think the present goverment stance is to discourage any UK earned funds being spent anywhere other than UK so I cant see them taking a stand to prop up the pound. Projected failures in eurozone may cause pound to rise against euro in future but time will tell.
