The other night i got a bottle of smirnoff, labelled £9.99 charged £19.99, not a happy chappy i was sent to customer service only to find they will refund double the difference of the price on the shelf to the scanning price, giving me £20 back.

I can asure you that you nearly every week there's a little error, such as offers being a prime example of not being taken off, please make sure that the item is the one matching the label as you will look like an idiot! Remember check your receipts as much as i admire tesco's do not allow them to rip you off!

I'm sure this has already been mentioned but i would just like to give a heads up.

To those who were unaware like me;

Shouldn't this be in "Miscellanious" ?

Unless of course you are basically saying that everyone should pile into Tesco's and buy Smirnoff and see if it's still mispriced so they get money too
#2
been around for a while now. wouldnt class it as a deal as such though, could spend all day looking for something that is wrong price
#3
yes it should be, but everyone experiences it at one point who are unaware of the policy, so i thought it may be useful to certain members

You paid £19.99 and got £20.00 back, thats a free bottle and a penny for you, not a tenner

no because it depends from store to store sometimes, these mistakes can be made locally, i can't change it to misc now unfortunately, maybe a mod can do that for me, thanks

Better than Asda, they just give you a £2 gift card if you are overcharged.

I must be missing something!

They gave you £20 back (being £10 overcharged and double the difference another £10 = £20)

You gave them £20 and they gave you £20 back. so in effect you got the vodka for free. Not the vodka and £10 cash!

This is Tesco policy and should not be classed as a deal.

true, my bad, i meant a free bottle plus a tenner, which ever way you want to look at it

This isn't a deal, it's just the poster's good fortune to have been in a store where the labelling was wrong and Tesco's mistake policy came into play.

The staff will have changed the shelf label/scanner as soon as the poster pointed out the error.

Not in our Asda any more, I am overcharged on every visit and they never give the £2 voucher. :x

Eh?? you paid £19.99 for a bottle that should have cost you £9.99

They gave you a free bottle and £10 back....

So u basically got the bottle at the displayed price of £9.99 and the £10 back that they overcharged you?? :?
looks like you just got back the money they overcharged you???

or did you end up with two bottles and your £10 back??

Make sure you e mail the customer services manager and tell them you will be taking your business elsewhere and complaining to head office if you dont get your money back plus extra for the inconvenience. It always works for me.

I think the op ended up with a free bottle of vodka. He paid £19.99 for a bottle, got £20 back, so he was 1p up on the cash side. On the bottle side, he still had the vodka. So, he was up 1p and had a bottle in hand as well. Which I think he must have then drunk before posting this thread.
