If you have a PS4 from next week you pay £0.00 for HDR, Xbox 1 owners have to spend £249 to get HDR

How much do PS4 owners have to spend to get an ultra HD blueray player I wonder?

Most people won't even know what HDR is, or care.

Why do people care so much about what is better. If you think it's better than get it, nobody else cares about the console you have

I have a PS4, and no Xbone. I think PS4 is better.

I had both PS3 and Xbox 360, and far prefer the 360.

Looking at the specs, it's likely Scorpio will be better than PS4 Pro. No need for fanboy-ism.

2x GPU power of PS4 is nowhere near enough to do 4k even half decently. My PC is cutting edge and only manages 50-80 fps at 4K with Ultra settings in games.

Scorpio will not be good enough either for 4K, but I suspect will be better than PS4 Pro. Both will massively scale down graphics effects to run 4K games at even 30fps.

And Sony just removed my one and only reason for upgrading to PS4 Pro, by omitting the UHD Blu Ray player. No sale to me.

This will cost Sony a lot, buying a new TV for all those who don't have one that is compatible - thanks Sony :D

How many Xbox One S games play at upscaled 30fps 4k? Lol Sony has the components already in place for 4k BluRay (they invented the thing in the first place, which brings onto another thing - does Sony get royalties for every Xbox One S sold with a Blu Ray drive in it? Yes) they could turn the function on like a flick of a switch eg this HDR thing if they wanted to

Hey look! Suddenly a 4k BluRay player takes precedence over playing actual games on a games console! X)

So streaming video in 4k HDR doesn't count either? Make your mind up.

I actually think Sony is doing something right by updating the original PS4 with HDR support, I just dislike fanboi comments. I have no real preference with consoles, I tend to swap from one to the other every other generation.

Tbf xbox has smashed this gen with supporting PC and that new xbox looks pretty decent at the side of a decent spec PC.
Think playstation might get gains though due to VR.
Great boxing match between them both.

So what games support HDR or is it new games coming out or is there going to be updates to current games?
Or is it just fake software generated HDR?

Cold.

Utterly pointless post just fishing for votes.

Anyone that cares will get it automatically.

PS4 Pro doesn't play 4K bluray. It can only stream 4K. Useless for anyone under 25mb innernet

This isn't a deal. It's a software update.

I can't say I've ever seen a more blatant post trying to stoke some kind of flame war. And some fool commenters will take the bait

And before accuses me of being one fan or another, I own all current consoles

So what if it doesn't play 4k BluRay, it's better than having a console that can but then barely play 900p resolution games. 4k BluRay playback capability is not essential for playing the stunning Battlefield 1 in 4k. When I can stream 4k movies in November on Netflix and play Watch Dogs 2 in 4k HDR, am I really gonna care about a 4k Blu Ray player? Who needs a 4k Blu Ray player when 4k Netflix is available?

Man, You'd think Sony are paying the op. How can someone love a company so much?

Just go ahead and enjoy gaming. These companies don't give a **** about you

If they really have omitted 4K blu Ray player, which is beyond stupid if they have, then there goes the only reason for me to upgrade. Yes it's a games console first but I like having the player so i don't have to buy one separately.

I think most discerning gamers would care which is the better of the two consoles. Gaming isn't just about gameplay, it's also about the experience, so it only makes sense to research and invest in the console with the power to deliver the best experience.

Or just buy both.. Then your opinion can at least be unbiased. I also can't see how 'experience' is power related? Since when? If you can't switch on a nintendo64 and have a good time your not a gamer! :) Gaming is not about next generation graphics/FX I think Minecraft has proven that!
