The new site promises better results by scouring a larger index of web pages than Google, but experts are cautious about its prospects.

Please leave your comments on the new search engine. Do you think it will become as popular as others??

Very very slow at present - it's been sitting searching for 'google' for the last two minutes...

We didn’t find any results for “uk emergency aviation”

Some reasons might be...

a typo. Please check your spelling.

your search includes a term that is very rare. Try to find a more common substitute.

too many search terms. Please try fewer terms.
Finally, try to think of different words to describe your search.

Gotta love the haters

Looking at reviews and the experiences of people here the term 'shot themselves in the foot' comes to mind :) - they'll have to go some to overcome the lacklustre reception for the buggy code they've released.

That'll probably be the last time I try Cuil, then. What's the point of a search engine that isn't reliable? Do they really expect me to use Cuil in tandem with Google until, um, they figure out some reason why their service is better than the one we've all fallen in love with over the years? And why doesn't every inch of the site have the word "Beta" on it? Including the page above, which would really make me feel a whole lot less hostile towards the new site if it didn't make it out to be my fault that it couldn't find anything.

Veeery slow. But tbh even if it was fast I wouldnt use it.

Id say 90% of internet savvy people dont even say search engine or net serach, its automatically Google it.

Why a grid-view for results? Surely it's more difficult to read a 3x3 grid than it is to read a list like the google results? Hmm.

There are already a million seach engines out there, this one won't take off no matter how 'innovative' it claims to be.

Yahoo fell into nothingness in terms of search, 8 years ago everyone was using it. Then there's Alta Vista, Ask Jeeves (though they killed Jeeves), Lycos, MSN, Hotbot (or whatever the hell that was) and countless others. Nobody cares about any of these anymore.

Google's unstoppable when it comes to search!

Christ, I'd forgotten Hotbot. I think we used to use it to google for Spice Girls photos back when I was at school. Ah, fun times.

But, yeah. Google became so popular because it was the best there was. They now stand as the company with the most intelligent and inventive staff in the industry, and continue to offer by far the best product. I can't see that changing for a very long time.

I totally agree. Thr output is shockingly bad imho....:x

The page snapshots are trying to bridge that vista/xp experience but it's a waste of time imo.

Often the page linked is not the actual oine I want but rather an indicator to what I'm looking for. I think showing a thumbnail can be misleading.
(Unless you're seareching for pr0n of course :whistling:)

You can hate on google, but it has served me well since 1998

My 2 cents...

We didn’t find any results for “French Military Victories”

At least Google's humour is still there.

How are you meant to pronounce "Cuil" ?

I don't know if it will fail but I dont think it will be an amazing success either. Everyone knows google and it's the first place they go if they want to find something.
