Academic now, but the Royal Mail will only process a compensation claim with Recorded Delivery (Signed For) &/or Special Delivery items.

When a standard item is lost they just give you a book of 12 stamps (from my experience).

Yes, I agree, items should not get lost in transit, or even damaged, but they do.

I'm sure I'm not the only customer of the Royal Mail who finds this happens.

BFN,

fp.

This is NOT the case. First and Second Class Post is 'insured' up to £34, regardless of using the recorded option.

Yer recorded is only generally used for the senders own knowledge/reassurance, so they know it got delivered (however sometimes this is next to useless if the postman doesnt obtain a signature!). As long as you have a certificate of posting, then normal first or second class is just as good.

Think you got ripped of fp by royal mail, no wonder your so keen on recorded/special deliery and mentioning all this "verfied paypal account" stuff.
[mod]#3
FP, you quote half of it but miss out the most important bit

Buy First Class stamps from our online shop, or print them from your PC for a fast, efficient service that’s backed up with compensation.

They cover upto £34. It's standard practise with Royal Mail to insure 100 x the cost of a first class stamp.......always has been. I've had to claim a couple of times in the past and they always send a cheque.

Sorry, I disagree about Standard delivery being insured...

First Class "Standard":

* Normally delivers next working day
* No maximum weight limit
* Stamps available in books, sheets or rolls
* Free certificate of posting available
* From just 34p for mail up to 100g

(No insurance)

Recorded (Signed For):

* Proof of posting
* Signature on delivery
* Online confirmation of delivery
* Up to £34 compensation ***
* Prices from 70p plus normal postage

Why did YOU put (No insurance) under First Class standard. What are you on about? First Class post is 'insured' up to £34.00. I know this for a fact, please don't call me a liar again.:x

That's odd... when I have made a claim, all I've got is a book of stamps & a "sorry we lost your mail" letter (that, curiously, did arrive OK).

Did you send proof of value eg. print out from Amazon of the sale value of the item that went missing. I've sent this and the proof of posting along with the form from the post office and got a cheque each time for the value. In fact i had to do it 3 times last month :( but have had 3 cheques :)

Paypals U/A states you should use a trackable service. The R/M pay out whether you use R/D or S/Post, so you either go against Paypals U//A knowing that the R/M will cough up or you go with R/D. Either way you can claim up to £34 compensation.

four in a row posting you of all people should know that you should not do that what with being a mod on 1upgamers i am sure you do it to boost your post counts.

I didn't call you a liar the first time... I just said I disagreed... but now you have pointed out the service has changed (since I used to be a seller on eBay & use the previous Recorded Delivery service frequently), then I still am not calling you a liar.

I have been selling and using the R/M for well over 6 years, nothing has changed apart from the amount of compensation and the fact that R/M C/S quite often send a letter out to the buyer confirming non receipt of the item.

Yes, I did send proof of cost (eBay/PayPal receipt). I eventually had to get my Credit Card company involved because PayPal, eBay, and the Royal Mail were all unwilling to take responsibility; that, to be fair, was the fault of the seller (but I still paid for a Recorded Delivery service & didn't get it).

I eventually have up as the amount of time I was spending on trying to recoup less then £20 was just not worth the hassle.

I just put it down to 'experience' as you do, and moved on.

You got the Credit Card company involved over an item worth less than £20? What did they do?:roll:

Why do you not try the same thing Fanpage.I do have a problem with you i think you are a post *****.You get involved in a lot of peoples threads just to boost up your posts.

I've had trouble with a seller here on HotUKDeals recently... took my £10 by PayPal & never delivered. Went through PayPal's dispute procedure & got an e-mail back yesterday saying there was nothing they could do.

Phone this person up then. You have their number, don't you? You are the most active member on the FS forum, ummmmm :?

Don't worry, it's my thread as well. I'm the buyer.:-D

I honestly don't see the point in all this. FP was mistaken, he thanked people for informing him it wasn't the case. Shouldn't that be that?

I've always found him to be a nice chap and a helpful member.

Ditto. And for the record, Alex1982 did post pictures with 'his' name against them, he was certainly a seasoned scammer, but will continue because people aren't prepared to follow through after being scammed

(Not within the thread where I purchased one of the items on offer, and I wasn't the only one who was taken for a ride, but I was the one who paid the less. I tried to follow-up, and I'm at that point again where it's £10 that I've already lost, or loads more hassle to get it back).

Again, thank you for your interest & further comments. I do appreciate the support.

We have this scroats phone number and address if you want to follow it up. :p

A thread to discuss the compensation levels given by RM:-D

Nothing to discus really, it's £34 for First or Second Class post. Using R/D does not change this amount. You need a CoP or PoP.
#24
PM someone who the mods like, and ask them in turn to PM a mod, it will then be dealt with. :thumbsup:

Claimed twice, each time item arrived, just late, SD items.

£4-5 worth of stamps are compensation each time.

More annoying is all the posties that open post and RM thinking it's ok due to nothing being done and foreign posties stealing large amounts of post on overseas mail, far more than RM for UK mail, and RM just not caring,

I'm not trying to say anything, I hadn't read the thread in question.

I shall now 'fall back' i've had enough false claims levelled against me this week, so shall watch how this develops. :whistling:

My sense of humour is 'different'.

Is it okay to continue this discussion on this thread? The OP is a bit of a 'Loose cannon'. :)

Probably best to start a new thread.
