EXPIRED Housing Association Property Access Rules

We live in a housing association property which is a middle property so we need to go round the back to put bins out etc. I also normally go round the back with the little one in the buggy too as I am trying to keep the carpet clean and it is easier to access the house from the back. Tonight my neighbours daughter who doesnt live next door knocked and asked if we could stop going round the back as her mum doesnt like it, I was a bit gobsmacked to be honest and didnt say much although she would see I wasnt suited. I don't think we overdo it were not round the back every five minutes. I just wondered if anyone knows whether she is within her rights to request us not to use it. Thanks in advance.

Contact the housing association but as it shared access I don't think your neighbour should be complaining. You need to know where you stand.

Thats what I was thinking, I'm going to give them a ring tomorrow I don't want any trouble but I don't think its unreasonable for us to have access once the little one isnt in his buggy we won't hardly use it but he's only 15 months.

Ok. Speak with the HA. Sometimes access/rights are granted for particular activities such as entering property, taking out rubbish, vehicular access etc and excludes other activities. Especially in situations like yours where this is not the only egress to and from the property.

If you have access and it's communal for bins etc, I can't understand any reason why you'd not have access for other means.

Have a chat with your neighbour and tell her the reason you use it with the buggy, if she disagrees, then quite frankly she's out of order.

As others have suggested, speak to the HA.

... Can you stop using it because she doesn't like it?

Don't you have your tenancy agreement? It should tell you in that where you are able to go. Paths round houses are usually communal.

I spoke to the HA this morning and they said it doesnt sound unreasonable the access that I am wanting and the lady said they would write to her and go round and see her if I want them to but did I want to try speaking to the neighbour first! I am going to pop round the see if I can reason with her as I don't want to antagonise the situation if it can be resolved amicably! I will post back what happens next. thanks for all the replies :)

tell her you felt intimidated by her daughter and you don't appreciate being threatened!

that should stop her moaning!

Cheeky cow!
