I have been asked by the court to provide witness statements as to why I should be able to see a child in the family to which I have had constant access since she was born.
I have a leave hearing on the 3rd Nov and the judge told me it would be better to seek legal advice but I am unable to afford it and am not eligable for legal aid.
Solicitors who advertise fixed fee interviews are now saying they are only interested in private clients.
Does anyone know where I can start? Any helpful family lawyers on here? Please?

Is the child in the care of the local authorities Social Services, or a private case?

There must be more background to this?

People don't just get slapped with a 'Apply for Access' order?

Of course there is more to it.

If it is a Social Services case, it could be a child that is being taken into the care of the local authority, anyone whether it be a distant relative, or a family friend can apply to have contact with the child.

The judge would want to know why they do want to see the child.

I am not saying that this is the case in the OP.

Agreed, if its just 'simple' witness statements then all the OP needs is to get a upstanding member of the community to Write a letter.

Its not like the OP is on trial?

Yes CAB have given me details of half hour free apts thanks.
The judge wants me to write the statement as to why I want access although friends have done them for me too thanks.
I have now had a very kind offer from someone who is going to help me and I am very grateful to everyone who tried to help, and no it is not me on trial!!
Now off to check PM's if I can work out how to do it!!!

Thanks again folks x

Likely it is the social services as they are useless, when my brothers fiance died and my bro was a suspect(they didnt know if her death was suspicious or not) they gave my niece to the maternal grandparents who were snobs and even after he was cleared HE had to go through the courts to get access twice a month to his daughter as the social services kept on claiming everyone in my family is dangerous(just because they were on benefits yet had no criminal convictions) twisted everything and then requested expensive doctors reports, and evidence they knew my parents and brother couldnt afford then when my parents managed to borrow some the evidence was "lost" Then when found was twisted around to only show the negative.

I doubt is as simplistic as that. "The Childrens Act" is pretty straight forward, anyone dealing with either Social Services or a private case should read up on it.

Dealing with Social Services is more preferable to dealing with a parent who simply refuses to cooperate.
