hope not, whats the point, not like its going anywhere, cant stay at home indefinately
#7
Depends on how bad it gets, , i think more weeks will be added but in the winter months. Depends what happens with the vaccine , the seriousness etc. end of august will tell.
#8
A lot of the kids will like it,I'll like it too if they close up,but obviously not so good for parents who work or get fed up after the 6 or so wks off school anyway.

I dont mind the flu, just more holidays!

Hmm well im 16 , doing a levels next year, im in two minds about it , i don't really want more time off, as i want to get qualifications and i get bored , there is only so much tv, n so much xbox i can handle. Pros, more free time and lay ins.

you'd think with technology these days . there would be availability to do home teaching via the web or something.

I thought the same mate was wondering about the education etc. they might set up some programme not sure. But I guess you could just work extra hard the rest of it.

There's a rumour going around Doncaster that there will be an extra 4 weeks added to school holidays here because of swine flu. They already have 7 weeks off! I couldn't remember how to write when I went back to school after the holidays. My kids will probably forgot how to read when they go back at this rate!
#28
I teach in Sheffield and we've not heard anything like this. My daughter is a learning mentor in Doncaster and she's not mentioned anything either.
#29
o lawd. no. they must go back!

A slight change today anounced.

The Department for Children, Schools and Families has previously said that while it expects schools and nurseries to re-open as usual in September, it 'cannot be certain what the situation will be'. Some closures may be possible.

Hi all

There are no plans as yet to close schools. They are monitoring the situation and plans are in place to assess the situation nearer the time. Keeping schools closed maybe an option however it is still only an option. Assessing the progression of Swine Flu over the next couple of weeks is priority, with a 30% infection rate expected we have to be realistic and accept this will impact on most services.
