Fa to release statement later this evening-could terry be getting binned??

The fa are to make an announcement shortly with regard to wayne bridges decision to not be available for selection.

Do you reckon they may just bin terry so that "team unity" is maintained? Im sure bridge has many friends in the England team too-what if they all back out in support of him?

Or is terry too important?

Yeah kick out Terry, being in a football team should require all the players to get along.
Terry got himself in this mess, and he isn't going to suffer seeing as he's on £170k a week or something.
#2
very much doubt they will drop terry, hes too good a player to drop. end of the day its not up to the FA, its down to the manager he as control who is picked n dropped from team, as shown when terry was axed from captain, the FA didnt want to know
#3
Got a feeling that Terry will pull out of the squad... a lot of the squad will be behind Bridge over what's happened, and him now pulling out of the squad might have turned some players even more against Terry. It might be the only way of calming the situation down.

It'll leave is really short at CB though, with Ferdinand, Woodgate and King all constantly injured.
#4
I think Terry should resign IMO.

There is no I in team. No one player is better than the whole team. The statement will just confirm that Wayne Bridge wont be playing. They will probably say they are sorry that he has made the choice not to play.

I have a feeling it will be more than that-why call a press conference to state what bridge has already officially told the media?

There is another option, although he's currently playing right back temporarily.

Why? Bridge isn't a massive loss.

Terry would be. It's Bridge's choice to take his ball and go home.

Apparently they're going to announce a collection to buy Wayne Bridge the world's smallest violin:-D
#9
Terry should be removed from the team imo
#10
If the FA have called it I don't think it will be to 'sack' JT. I think over the coming days the pressure will grow on JT to resign (and rightly so).

I think this is going to throw such a huge cloud over everything England do between now and SA that he has to go.

I don't think Carra would come out of retirement tbh, and would need a pacy CB next to him anyway (who I can't think of off the top of my head).

It's not just about WB, there will rifts amongst the whole squad about being in team Terry or Bridge, plus every news item and interview will be all about him. The team will struggle to focus on the important stuff. IMO.

but surely its a bigger issue than bridge not being a massive loss? His teammate and captain did the dirty on him-surely the ultimate act of betrayal and disloyalty? If terry is in danger of splitting the squad and causing disharmony then maybe he should go?

It's going to be his last chance to play in a World Cup, and with a very good chance of being a first teamer. He'd certainly be extremely tempted.
#16
Every movement (especially if negative) JT or the team does on the pitch will be linked to this story, you watch.

+1

Fair play on Bridge for putting England's World Cup hopes ahead of his chances of playing in a possible last World Cup
#18
The dutch are the perfect example of what happens when you go to a world cup with a team capable of winning(as england certainly are) and dressing room disharmony destroys the whole campaign.

I'm sure the other players will love having one of their best players removed because the second choice left-back couldn't show some testicular fortitude and man up.
#20
How could Bridge have been expected to play along side (literally) the bloke who boned his missus behind his back. i find it incredible that people think he should just get on with it.

Personally I wish he had played and then gone up to JT and smacked him one when we kicked off.

it's about doing your job. You choose the best team.

Looking at a list of

Jagielka
Upson
Dawson
Lescott
Ferdninand

You're probably right :)

Although with how he's performed for us at CB this season, god help us :-(

So if your best mate at work did your missus (on the strange planet where you had one) you'd man up and work along side him as if nothing had ever happened?

I don't think so but I bet you feel better for making people think you would.

Would I let something bad like that take away my dream of reaching the pinnacle of my career?

He hasn't got to like Terry, he hasn't got to talk to him apart from on the pitch. He's got to act like a professional.

The FA are only going to announce the Kieran Gibbs is happy to be given his chance to play for England. :whistling:

So you haven't met people that you couldn't stand, thought were complete whatevers but respected in a professional manner and could work with?

And it was Bridge's ex-missus.

in actual fact I consider that a romanticised version of footballers-once upon a time kids dreamed of playing for club and country. Today I think they only dream of insane amounts of money to be made as a player and the fame that attaches to it.

He really hasn't. Maybe you and Bridge could get together with a box of wine and listen to some sad songs:cry::friends:

You really think you're gonna win it...the usual England fan bravado prior to the inevitable tear-stained penalty shoot out semi-final loss.
#34
They won't sack JT as the FA wont want to undermine Capello, the situation was dealt with, if bridge feels as though he cant stay in the squad then so be it, i'd much rather us take Leighton Baines anyway!
Terry has paid the penalty by losing the captaincy! what good would it do to the country's chances by sacking him??
Maybe they are sacking Ashley Cole.....

I think that's probably the reason that he's pulled out of the squad, as he doesn't feel that he can :whistling:

I always thought of Wayne Bridge as a bit of a money-grabbing idiot, for all those years he was happy sitting on the bench at Chelsea, but by putting England's chances of success (by hopefully allowing some stability to return) above his own shows that he's anything but.... he's gone up in my estimation quite a lot.

I don't think we're definitely going to win it.

But I think we've got a decent chance.

He's gone down in mine - he's letting his personal life get in the way of his professional.

I also feel for him because he will regret this in the future.

Which is understandable given what's happened. And I respect him for taking the decision which he feels is best for England, and not what's best for him.

I think the only way way he'll regret it is if we win the World Cup, but I can't see that happening when you look at the squad we'll probably have (who plays LB is least of our worries)
