I had a long session on fable 2 (over 12 hours) turn off the console while still in the fable 2 game. The next day i turn my console back on in the disc display section it read "Unreadable Disc" tried open the disc tray and closing it repeatably same error message tried different games, dvd movies, dvd disc cleaner same error message, everything works it just cant read any discs. The strange thing is 2 of my friends have had the same problem while playing fable 2 as well tried searching the web for similar cases but not alot of them and they werent all fable 2 related, anyone had this problem, because 2 of my friends and me getting this exact problem is quite a coinicedence

12 hours ??

LOL 12 hours is no problem with Fable2. It sucks you in and time flies.
I once played a whole night when my hubby was on nighshift.

Have you tried cleaning the lens?
#4
I had this happen with cod...

Take it to gamestation and get the disk cleaned.
#5
if its not under warranty the laser is not that hard to change about £15
its not the game its the 12hours or reading nonstop that would have burnt out the poor little thing
#6
Ohh if it had lived another week and a bit you could have copied it to the HD.

Sod's law and all that.
#7
warranty is void now already opened it, atm waiting for the tools to arrive so i can open up the metal casing so i can see if cleaning the lens will work
#8
any speculations about why fable would do this to the laser is it the time function(gold drop every 5 mins) that would make the laser work overtime
#9
What hero dolls have you guys got, I have Garth?

Quite simply it didn't, the XBL Forums are always atleast 3 or 4 posts for every game that comes out saying,

GTAIV
GoW2
COD4
Mass Effect
Saints Row

etc etc broke my Xbox, its just unfortunate its happened.

only asking, why did you open it and void the warranty?
#14
didnt want to pay £60 to repair and was in the middle of fable 2 so wanted it fixed fast

Props for the 12 hour shift, sorry bout your 360 mate

is Fable 2 really that good? I might be getting a 360 console bundle(poss Elite) and might have it as one of my packed-in games.

I'm trying to get into Fallout 3 but am scratching my head as to why it's got such great reviews, just seems so duul 'n pointless, the 3rd person view if selected makes the game look a joke too.........not happy.

as a single player game amazing with a lot of british humour as a coop game it is the worst game ever

Fallout 3 is awesome, I love it. Whats the issue you having with it? Its is a exploration/scavenging game so wandering around and getting into random firefights is a big part of it as well as doing the quests to level up and continue the story line. Let me know if you need any help/pointers.

I must admit to not being much of an RPG guy tbh:oops:

I quite enjoyed the initial bits with the flashback's 'n growing up stuff(10th birthday party made me lol:-D )

Once I was out of the vault I kinda lost any notion of purpose or direction, didn't know if the 'locals' were meant to be killed(they just start shooting at you lol)

Battle system is kinda odd too - wish I could grasp what others are cos some ppl say it's just sooo great.

I've tried it across 3 different stints - hoping I get to grips with it soon.

OK, yeah its a RPG def, so even with the first person shooter view every shot fired is the equivalent of a roll of die with any multpliers you have added, ie what gun you have, your skill rating, your health and radiation etc. So accurancy is not of the utmost importance. The V.A.T.S systems is a Action Point based round so each shot you program in is again a die roll with the other % factors rolled in, generally the closer you are with most gun the better the % factor.

As for the quest and leveling mechanics of the game, you need to explore the Mad Max Style waste land but before that base yourself in Megaton and get the shack there by doing the defuse the bomb quest. Going out and exploring buildings and hunting items is key, at first sell them off to get some caps (currency), and talk to everyone in Megaton to get information and locations you should visit. Mix it up with exploration and then a quest to keep a good interesting momentum.

thanks for the great pointers, I'll try again!

maybe my problem is I'm going through GOW2 on hardcore at the mo so my attention is divided - action packed is not the word.
