My sister just asked me if employers refer to your facebook when attending a job interview. I laughed and said no your friends talk balls. She then said her IT teacher told her today that there is software that employers can use to see all your information (even if it's a private facebook)

is this man deluded?

employers are increasingly monitoring what employees are saying about the business on facebook.

in some cases it can lead to the employee being sacked

ps this is based on my day to day work in personnel in a large uk business

I know they could look for you, and view it if it was a public profile. This guy told my sister and her friends they have software to access your page the numbnut.

Girl I know @ BT got disciplined over xmas for moaning about her xmas hours on facebook. She was mates with a gaffer on it. Needless to say I keep work (inc all work mates) and facebook totally separate.

Im not sure about them using software to see stuff you dont want them to see-no idea if thats possible or ethical. But certainly employers are increasingly searching for prospective employees on social network sites, and Asda have sacked dozens of employees for making negative comments about them on such sites

if you have your profile public or have work friends on their then you take the risk. But mine is private and wouldn't mix it with work. I just want to know if the claim About accessing your page with certain software is possible.

WARNING! Facebook now automatically scans your brain through your monitor. To BLOCK, go to your kitchen cabinet and remove the box of aluminum foil. Wrap foil around your head, stay calm & breathe through your left nostril. This is a serious problem & has been confirmed by my cousin's girlfriend's neighbour's son's baby's grandma and her pet chihuahua. Copy and paste as your status! SAVE YOUR FRIENDS*

I searched for part of my status and it came up with this woman's profile, I had to have a look cos her photo was like oO so I had a look and the comments on her pics- I've nearly wet myself laughing!! It's like an episode of Jeremy Kyle but on Facebook instead!

Maybe if she is trying to get some kind of Government job, which from what I have heard some Government areas do have access to Facebook pages, depends on who.

we had to sign a new segment of contract stating we couldn't name my workplace on facebook and bad name them - people in a similar company have been disiplined for doing so
