Fake Ds lite consoles

My friend has just alerted me to this as she watched newsround and i have one of the red and black consoles they were showing which could be fake.
According to newsround its to do with the packaging and chargers which is where my confusion comes in.
In January i bought a red and black ds lite off a uk seller on ebay for £140, think it had a american 2 pin charger in it but can't be sure and then a uk charger was included extra. This could of course be fake but i have a pink one that i got from empire stores which came with a uk charger which my daughter broke so can't check the numbers on it but the box and packaging is identical to the black and red one which is the same as the one they say is fake on newsround. So have empire stores sold me a fake ds lite?

A lot of it is scaremongering, i'm sure that empire stores didn't sell you a fake console.

When i read it i thought it was just the chargers that was the problem which doesn't affect us as my kids just use the nintendo ones anyway(we have 4 ds lites and numerous accessory packs). Doesn't bother me either that the red and black one could be fake as newsround called it but if the red and black one is fake due to the packaging then so is the pink one i bought from empire stores as its identical packaging.
Surely the catalogue wouldn't have sold me a fake one?

Sounds like a load of ****.

From what i can see they are not fake consoles, just imported consoles with 3rd party Uk chargers. The chargers being the problem.

They quoted that the fake ones can be found for as little as £40. Anyone got a link? lol. Sounds to me like they chose the cheapest Hong Kong DSlite on ebay which was prob £40 +£80 postage

mine certainly weren't cheap.
black and red bought in jan originally would have been £96 inc postage but in the end cost me £140 due to the original seller emailing me 6 days before daughters birthday so having to buy from a uk seller.
blue one cost me £96 and came in an identical box to the uk ones.
not seen any selling much cheaper since!!

just read an article which included this
When you buy these goods, you're not funding our economy, you're actually funding criminals in these far off places and it could be linked to terrorism," she added.

so maybe they're just bothered that the uk aren't getting the money!!

My local news had a guy from Customs, also showed off the R4 saying its not endorsed by Nintendo!
LOL its because we're ordering from overseas for cheap and not paying Tax, fair enough the 2 pin to 3 pin power converters can be a bit dodgy but can be replaced for UK certified.
The actual Consoles are proper Nintendo DS USA/Jap imports & are fine.

Credit Crunch Tax dodgers :)

After watching a video, it is a fake charger and the DS is totally fake, so I'm guessing it's the insides of a DS put into a cheaper case and using cheaper screens.

The 2 imported ds lites we have are identical to the 2 uk ones apart from all being different colours.
They all have taken some stick, dropped on wooden flooring and even outside on concrete and still going strong no damage at all to them so if i have 2 fake ones then they are bloody good ones!!!

Yeah I watched this on sky news the other day, people are ordering them off a website from a country like hong kong or thailand, they are totally FAKE!!!

The power adapter aparently doesnt come in the box and when pluged in will adventualy melt even some cases where it does come on at all!!

It was said that they have stopped on conviscated hundreds in the post.

The Fake one is supposed to look exactly like the orignal
