Apparently people have been completing questionnaires in order to be in with a chance of winning £500 of Tesco Vouchers. At the end of the survey they will ask for a mobile number, that will secure your entry. The survey has actually signed them up to a premium rate text service, costing those that had taken part £4.50 a time! The Mirror reported that some of the victims of this scam have been charged around £80 so far!
Tesco are apparently launching an investigation into this and say that they have NOTHING to do with the offending questionnaire as well as any of the charges involved.
Just be careful in the future when answering E-mails and such, although many of us will be fully aware of these scams, not everyone will realise the risks involved. If unsure, just don't bother or check with a retailer before continuing, it will save you loads of hassle!Source: The Mirror.co.ukSainsbury's
Again, it looks like fraudsters are going via Whatsapp sending messages to offer a FREE £100 gift card.
The message reads something like this:"http://www.sainsburys.**********.com - Sainsburys is giving away £100 gift cards . They are expanding their store network and they launched this promotion. Grab a gift card while its lasts. I got mine already."
Now , it seems really obvious to most of us that these are not legitimate, but some do click through! Neither of the supermarkets mentioned have anything to do with these "Giveaways" Again... if in doubt, contact your local store or chuck them a message via social media. The link being sent seems to be dead now, which is great.
