Why am i not enjoying it?

I have escaped..and made it through the first houses...and through a big school.
Shot a few people..picked up anything and everything.

Should i stick with it?

Some people say it gets much better.

I enjoyed it, I tried to play through it again as a villain but I can't make the bad choices, makes me feel bad, like killing children in Bioshock :(
#3
Go to Megaton and follow the storyline for awhile this will kick start the interest more.

Definitely stick with it! Once you escape and head to Megaton and pick up the story, the game gets better! I wasn't overly keen on it up until that point, and now I'm fairly addicted

nope its boring and dull all you do is wander about getting killed by things you cant see. worse than oblivion.

u need to head to megaton!!

i played it for about an hour, got to the same point as you.
Then i acidently deleted all my saved games and re-started it the weekend.
Ive put in over 30hrs so far, once u get used to the game its really good!

keep at it!

Just completed Fable 2 so this is next on my list.

The only thing that has put me off geting it up till now is the landscape. I loved Oblivion but found the world through the oblivion gates really boring and bland, has me worried I may just drift away from playing the game in the same way I did with Mass Effect and the moon driving bits.

Knew this game was overhyped, I'll never try it.

Im just more into my level based, set path games.

This game sucks, no matter how much you shoot things they never seem to die, takes all your ammo, i absolutely hate it. Personal opinion of course lol...

I had the same felling about Fallout, I was not very keen on the way the camera works at the beggining, An RPG game with a kind of First/Third person view, it was a bit weird (you can not see your face when you rotate the camera), anyway as I read so much about it and after I completed FABLE 2 I decided to give it a go.

Until you reach Megaton and are level like 3 or 4 it's a bit difficult, specially because you probably don't have a clue how the pinboy or bracelet works. Once you get the hang of it it's just brilliant.

I am playing as a Villian at the moment and is superb. I am currently a level 9  and I simply love it. Lockpick 97, Sneak 60 lol.

The shooting system is great I love it you can either shoot like a mad careless person or you can use their clever system with very nice scenes when you kill someone or something. With such high Sneak level I get a critical shoot pretty much all the time :-D

The best thing is to give people hope, do their side mission, get their reward, then kill them and get everything else they have

Fallout is so addicted when you get the hang of it. I have not been so addicted to a game since WOW.

Are you guys using the RB button (not just the RT button) before you shoot?? This allows you to aim which part of the body to shoot and when you shoot it changes the view and shows very nice video scenes.

This is to me one of the best part of the game.

Try it and you will see, even with a Melee Weapon is very nice.

best thing to do, is to get to megaton first, do all the side quests to get money, also if you do the survial guide quest it will allow you to explore the wastelands and will get you started with places and monsters.

use differnt weapons, like the siper for long range attacks, if u havent got one get closer than use VATS aim for the head and BOOM!

lol, pmsl, RPG means Role Play Game not Rocket Propelled Grenade!!! hahahahahahaha

Are the attacks in real time combat affected by your skills?

Yes, all combat is governed by dice rolls, so even if you aim perfectly, you might still fail a roll and miss the target.

Is the combat turn-based or real-time?

Unlike Fallout and Fallout 2, which were turn-based, and unlike Fallout Tactics, which let you choose between turn-based combat or real-time combat without an active pause, Fallout 3 uses a real time with pause system.

There are two combat modes; real-time FPS and V.A.T.S. (Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System). Real-time FPS takes into account factors such as weapon condition and a character's skill level in that weapon category, but accuracy depends greatly on the player's skill in aiming the targeting reticule. Players can attack in either 3rd or 1st person perspective, leading some to suggest the term 'TPS' (third person shooter) would be at least as appropriate as FPS, while others consider that to be overly pedantic.

The V.A.T.S. mode uses AP (Action Points), of which a character has a limited supply, depending on a number of factors, and weapons require different quantities of AP per use in V.A.T.S. mode. There are two phases in V.A.T.S. mode; targeting and execution. In the targeting phase, time freezes and the player can choose which enemy to target, then which body part to target (except in the case of melee or unarmed attacks), with all targets displaying a percentage 'chance to hit' based solely on the weapon's attributes and the character's skill level, while the impact of a player's skill is seen only in the assessment of tactical options, i.e. which enemy or body part to target. Players can target as many different enemies and/or body parts as they wish, as long as there are sufficient AP.

Once the player commits to a choice of targets, the execution phase begins. In slow motion cinematic mode the player witnesses the results of their choices in the targeting phase. During this phase enemies may continue to move and attack, though in slow motion, so they may avoid attacks by moving behind an obstruction or attack the character. Although successful attacks on the character during this phase do considerably less damage than usual, it's possible to sustain a crippling injury that will have a detrimental effect on subsequent attacks in the execution queue.

When all the actions the player chose in the targeting phase have been executed, time returns to normal, and any AP spent begin to regenerate.

Alfonse in Simply words BRILLIANT .

I love the VATS system, specially as I try to start all my attacks from a hidden position which pretty much gives me a Critical all the time with my Massive SNEAK skill. I might not have a lot of skills in weapons, strenght, etc, but the critical compensates that for me. and the Sneak has so many rewards :w00t:

Just to give you an example I am as EVIL as you can be in the game and I am level 9, a lockpick skill alreay in 100, Sneak in 55, Repair 45, Small Guns 55 and I already have bought the First Infirmary, First Laboratory, have so many ammo, have bought or found about 4 or 5 schematics, and pretty much never have money issues. As a bad guy everything is more expensive for me though :-(

My nephew in the other hand is playing the good guy but he struggles to find money and pay for repairs, he is spending all his money repairing, but his skills are in weapons so he is very good at killing like mad.

Whilst for me I have to think and use the VATS aim,a I use a lot of things to increase my stats in a big fight, put mines, then shoot with Assault Rifle (only weapon that I have a decent skill), to bring them to me, use the grenades that I have built, and if I still struggle then a Nuke granade is always handy.

I also have pretty much all the big guns rocket launcher, missile laucher, etc, which even that they only give me a chance to hit of 20% they still work.

I simply loves the game, no matter how you play it I am sure you will enjoy it once you get used to it.
