FAO: Anyone who has the Inception Triple Play pack

Finally got round to opening my Inception Triple Play thingy today and the Blu-ray looked great. Thought I'd pop in the DVD as a comparison and it was an absolute disgrace, wasn't even DVD quality, looked like a bloody pirate copy.

Anyone out there with the Triple Play pack I urge you to go look at the quality of your DVD as there is a good chance it might not be anywhere near DVD standard, and it looks like Warner Bros are aware of it as I see there is a notice on their website about the DVD version that comes with the Triple Play and the Briefcase http://www.warnerbros.co.uk/

I just fired off an email there now asking for a replacement as the quality of the DVD is awful, can't stress how bad it looked.

I urge you to see what your DVD is like and if it's anything like mine you'll click straight away at how bad it is, this is the email address for them

[email protected]

I myself won't be watching the DVD version, but I still paid several pounds more for it and if I were to lend it to someone I'd want them to enjoy it, and it's the principle of it, WB shouldn't be allowed to get away with this.

For an idea of what it was like, see these screen grabs

Na it's not my set-up I can assure you, I asked around a few people about it and they've said the same, one said to quote "Mines looked like it's been filmed on a phone." Plus WB wouldn't have that message of their website either if there wasn't a fault in a lot of them.

AVForums has a considerably lengthy thread on the topic http://www.avforums.com/forums/movies-tv-shows-disc-downloaded/1372636-inception-dvd-picture-quality-terrible.html and I thought I'd post about it here as I never knew about it until now, and many others may not be aware of it.

Edit - Those screen grabs look great to you? :\ Are those jaggies invisible? It's even worse in motion with the amount of artifacts appearing on screen.

To quote from AVForums, "When they encoded the MPEG stream to PAL DVDs they chose bad image resize algorithm, nearest neighbor instead of bicubic interpolation. It's a fatal error and need re-authoring. The bad picture can be seen in any TV, CRT, plasma or LCD."

The start sequence has some bad interlacing issues. Not happy with mine either.

Blu Ray looks AMAZING, and ill give credit for that, but just seems to be a problem in their video transfer. Mistakes happen, and if they are willing to rectify that, then good on them.

If you bought the blu ray to watch the dvd you have issues - Dont understand the op saying he paid extra for the dvd.... Its only been released on triple
Play im not too fussed as those dvds are there as a medium for technophobes who are scared of the blu!!!

It's the principle of it, rather than release a stand-alone Blu-ray version of it they've included the DVD of it and will of course have charged more for having included another copy of the film on another disc.

Whilst I'm never going to watch the DVD, the quality control of the product seems to have been non-existent and anyone I may lend the film to who might not have a BR player, I want them to be able to enjoy the film, not watch some shoddy copy that has been pumped out by Warner.
