Fastest way to transfer money - urgent

My friend has missed their train and has no money to buy a new ticket.
It seems that I cannot buy them a ticket online as they need my card to collect it.

So I'm trying to transfer money into their account so that they can buy the ticket themselves.
What is the fastest way I can send them the money?
We are with different bank accounts so I'm not sure if that will increase transfer time.
They are with Natwest. If I go to Natwest first thing in the morning and give them cash to put into my friend's account will it go in instantly?

Thanks for any solutions!

Yes.

Which bank are you with? In my experience if you use HSBC and do an online transfer, the money gets to a Natwest account almost instantly and ytime of day/night.

it should go in right away if your putting it into their account from inside the bank and not transfering it online.

Online transfers normally go through very quickly, they SAY a couple of hours, but from my experience its pretty much instant. So i would try that in the first instance - you'll need there acc number, sort code and full name. If that fails, then into a branch first thing tomorrow, and that should go in instantly.

Online bank transfers are normally instant these days. Even with 2 different banks, they changed it a while ago it only used to be same day if you were both at the same bank but now it's different.

Thanks Pink. I'll do that in the morning.

EDIT: I guess I could try and transfer the money online now and if it still hasn't gone in by the morning, I'll go to the bank.

I've bought a ticket online before and rang the station to let them know I've bought it for someone else, who will be coming in with their own ID (gave details) and they were very obliging. Spose it will depend on the person/station/time of day etc, but may be worth a go.
