faulty present advise please (netbook)

ok there had to be 1 didnt there....can never run TOO smoothly!

Ok i got my daughter an msi wind netbook i saw on here, from Argos, ordererd online back on the 1st nov....when delivered i set it up, took bout an hour then put away till today...but did notice it got quite warm during set up, but dismissed it as normal

Also got my son one and done the same, however my daughter has got rather hot very quickly today, where my sons has not, also has randomly turned itself off whilst on charge so not low battery, also the webcam function only worked randomly, freezes and again crashes....im thinking faulty unit??

my question is, do i take it into an Argos store?, only receipt i have is printed email of order, or is it too late for that as was 1st nov it was ordered? Or do i contact msi wind as it has a 2 year warranty??

obv want to get it sorted quick as its a present :(

even after nearly 2 months?

and can i take it to store even tho i bought online...


also price has gone up £70... will they still swap??

yh straight swap instore if you have proof of purchase, btw the turning itself off is overheating issues. My laptop gets it but i got given a cooling stand which im using now which plugs into the usb. I really recommend using one!

In the first 6month since purchase Argos must proof that the product was not faulty when you bought it. Since that is impossible you are entitled to a refund/replacement. After 6month the onus of prooving that the product was faulty at the time of purchase passes to you.

I'd say return it and ask for an exchange, wouldnt risk a hazzard if it involves a young one!

definately a fault i'd say as the other, same model, same length of time on, is cool to touch, this one my daughter found too hot!

i have an email print off with order number, do you think that'll be ok??


my local has none in stock :-( wonder what they'll do there?

Just remember, the customer services rep is paid to fob you off.

If the answer is no, ask for the shop manager. Be polite, but firm. You should have no problem getting it replaced.

this is what im expecting, esp as it been nearly 2 months, but i will stand my ground, also when i set the 2 up, this one already has msn messenger installed....the other didnt...im wondering if it was a return previously :thinking:

Did you have to complete a setup screen, before it let you onto the actual Windows desktop? Language/country/username/passsword etc... ?¿

actually yeah i did so maybe not :?

fingers crossed my local is open tomorrow to get it sorted quick, none in stock in store, only for home delivery tho so im wondering if they will have one sent to me :thinking:

tbh im sure they will arrange for another to be sent to you or the store so they dont have to refund you:)

go along and speak to them and see how you get on......they will lose nothing by replacing it but refunding you....

ive just looked and they are open at 9 in the morning, already packed it up ready, will take it up first thing, just a shame for my daughter, hey ho these things happen, fingers crossed they sort it quick :)

Its up to Argos to choose what they do not you im affraid, more than likley they will send it for repair which they are fully entitled to do, rapair/replace/refund is the usual way they do things

However stress that it is an xmas pressie and a repair is not really an option as you need it sorting ASAP, hopefully they will exchange

in my experience Argos are great with returns like this..sons portable dvd they exchanged so question at 8months...really nice about it. I hope you get it sorted x

ok im back...I called customer services before i went and they said they would normally refer to a tech team...i said thats not really ok as its a gift etc, so they said they would exchange, but my local was out of stock all colours,as was the nearest 3 stores :? , and delivery was only available for white or black (we had pink), i had a quick search and Kingston had 1 white in stock, my daughter didnt want to wait for delivery but was happy to have a white one instead so we have just done a bus trek all morning lol - was exchanged no probs at all, they didnt even look inside the box i took in lol, anyway daughter is happy once again, well done Argos and thank you all, gonna set it up and make a cuppa then i will be back to leave rep, thanks all

thats good news & well done Argos, we bought our daughter one, prolly the same MSI WIND ?in pink as well, touch wood, it stops & starts fine :thumbsup:
