Faulty Ram?

Hello

Following on from my previous topic about purchasing 2 gig ram for my Acer laptop i received it today.

I installed it etc.. turned my laptop on.. The laptop went on but the screen remained blank. Nothing appeared on it. After a while it switched itself off.

I then took the new ram out and tried it with just the standard 1gig and it worked fine. Tried the 2 gig on its own and the same with the blank screen.

When i got the package, it was meant to be packaged it a little box but it somehow popped out and the box was slightly crushed. The ram was just in the jiffy bag. Is it possible that its been damaged in the post as it wasnt in its box thing? Also is it easy enough for these to get damaged?

Its a possibility, could have received static along its journey, could even at a long shot be faulty from the factory, are you 100% sure its the right spec, where did you buy from?

The max it can take is 4gb, and has two slots. I thought it would be able to take the 2gig ones

I tried that also. It would start but just a blank screen then turn off. Tried 2 on its own, switched both 1&2 gig rams with each other (as in one in top and two at the bottom & vice versa) still nothing

Only when i put the 1gig alone, it works fine.

Black screen right from the start. It starts, fan is on but just black. Then switches off.

I don't have another laptop I could try I'm afraid.. Ill give the company a ring tomorrow and see what they suggest

Thanks guys for ur help as always! :)
