Faulty Technika television ..I want a refund whats my chances help!!

I bought the 32" technika television on the 27th December last year.....and it ws delivered on the 30th December.
It turns channels on us all the time so is very annoying and we have decided now that enough is enough and we want it sorting out.
So I rang Tescos and explained the problem with the unit and he asked me to press every button on the remote from the top left to the bootom right one at a time and then turn the unit off and remove the batteries from the remote control for one hour.
After this time power back up tv and put batteries back in remote aand all should be well..........if not they will have to collect the television and send it away for repair.
What I want to know is, am I allowed a refund instead as it is faulty and what are my chances If I demand a refund rather then it being repaired...............or even a new television I would prefer.
Help would be good.

Or even other peoples experiences with this tv its the 32-250 Technika advanced

I would imagine you have to let them repair it first before getting a refund / replacement.

I'd just put it in the car and take it into a Tesco store with the receipt. Chances are they'll refund you.

Has anyone actually had a problem with this set doing a simular thing and what did they do?

Maybe a stupid question but it's not a sticky button on the remote is it, how often does it do it as you could test it by putting the remote far away from the tv and seeing if it still happens.

nope its deff the tv unit as we took the batteries out the remote and the television still switched its self over whilst the batteries were out.
Now I have been told to cover the sensor on the television to see if that stops it from turning the tellevision over........mean while each phone call is costing me money for THEIR faulty television set !!!
NOT A HAPPY BUNNY !!

Technically after 6 months its repair or refund but it's the dealers choice, but knowing Tesco they'll probably offer you a refund any way. . .

after 30days or something i thought it went to repair - if they cant repair it then they will just give you replacement. Don't think your entitled to a refund tbh.

Love buying leccy stuff from tesco - Like i bought a router from there and it wouldn't set up with my xbox tried everything for like 2 days so took it back and told them that the dsl light kept on flashing and wouldnt connect to internet. So easy to return stuff and get a refund within the set period.

Done the same with a laptop running windows 7; didnt like windows 7 so took it back and said that it kept disconnecting from internet. They happily refunded me £450. :)

Tesco used to be really good. But recently I have found then to be strict on returns. Good result here though.

Contact Consumer Direct by phone, they are really helpful and tell you what you need to do.
You can actually claim for faulty goods for years down the line, if it's an actual fault and not like wear and tear.

I'm having this exact same problem. I'm also getting a blue flashing light whenever I put the TV into standby, and when I turn the tv back on I'm unable to change the channel. My problem is, I've had it for around 4 years and don't have the receipt. Do you think my chances of a refund/replacement are pretty slim?

Slimmer than an anorexic on a diet.

About the same chance of you ever making another post on here.
