Hi, i ordered a U600 over the phone from Orange around 17th Jan 08. It appears to be faulty since it resets itself to factory settings every so often and the last time it went funny it lost all my pics. Has anyone else had any similar problems with theirs as i keep speaking to Orange and they have fobbed me off a few times and I have had promises that they will ring back and they havn't.
I am asking as i am going to ring them up and insist they change the phone but i wondered if it was me doing something wrong before i go ahead tomorrow and get mad with them over the phone.

I have noticed Orange staff claim it is the manufacturers problem and not theirs when you try to return a phone if you have not taken out their phone cover policy.

Too many CS staff said to me on the phone "whose name is on the phone - thats who your problem is with" - so i guess that is included in the training.

For the first six months its the sellers responsibility - and then the next six the manufacturer's problem, unless you can show the problem was there originally - and then its the sellers problem.

I have a U600 which every so often whilst texting it will freeze then switch off and back on again - it has also lost all the words i added in predictive text - which is a pain in the a**.

Apparantly this is quite a common thing - the switching off and on and they need to be reset by the manuf

I hate the phone!!

my friend had a u600 and it done this often.

DOes it happen when u are trying to type a message in perdictive text? If so if you dont use this it wont reset itself

This must be a very common fault in the phone because my friend had gone through 3 of the u600's before finally getting a new phone.

She was on orange too.

Have ya rang 151 and told them, tell them you want a new phone.

I got a w910i on vodafone on sat and had similar problems getting it to text and vodafone have told me to take it back and if the shop refuse to replace it they have to take the matter up with vidafone who will demand a replacement even though its just their network

Mine went through an evening of doing this (about 3 times!), but has been OK since (maybe it heard me threatening to throw it down the garden:giggle:)

Honestly they are a waste of space, they have tranfered me to technical help which I was charged for and i told him i wasnt happy but he just said he wanted to help sort the problem out and that if i had to ring back again that i would be charged anyway, they re sent the letter to technical help and he promised me he would ring back on wednesday, i do have the ext.number and his name this time just incase he doesnt ring me back

I bought it from orange sales over the phone, he said he couldnt do anything until he heard back from technical help and i told him i wasnt happy since the phone clearly wasnt right and if it was anything else i would just take it back and get a refund, he said that 99% of the time their tech team can fix the problem but if they cant then they will sort it out.
I rang the equivelant 450 number but i had to do it from a landline as the reception isnt always that good, i had to pay for that then he said he would put me through to the tech helpline which would cost me 25p.

well 99% of the time didnt work on the 3 phones my friend had.

Do you know what software the phone is running?

I know from experience that if not running at latest software the user may experience these problems
#14
hi, i have no idea on the software sorry but if you know where i can find it i can tell you

My sister has the same phone, she hasnt had problems like i am having only that in general it is difficult to use
#15
i had the phone and had no probs with it but dont have it now will see if i can find the old one and see bout the software.

id take it to an orange shop, although you done it over the phone they should take the phone from you and send it off for a repair.

O2 do this with no charge

thanks, i will have to wait now until wed to see IF they actually ring me back and ill let u no how i get on. I will be ringing them back if they dont contact me when they say they will.

Well the man from orange said he would ring me back on wed at 1.30pm, he didnt so i have had to ring him, he says he had tried but im not convinced. He is very suprised that the technical help lot had not got back to him so he has issued yet another email to them and he says he will ring me back tomorrow.
I dont know what else i can do i have tried to say i wish to return it but they say they cant.
Well i will wait and see what tomorrow brings

i really would take the phone into the shop and demand they fix it im sure selling faulty goods is against the law so go pressure them into fixing it

Good luck with it
