Favourite N64 game

I was searching the net for the best n64 games and kept getting a similar list of games, i.e mario 64, mario kart 64, golden eye, banjo kazooie & tooie, zelda, jet force gemini etc etc...

the games above are great but i have them all and was looking to boost my n64 cart collection.

There has to be more great games than just the usual suspects,

so i thought i would ask the great hukd community of their favourite one and see who come up with a gem!

I've always loved Rogue Squadron.

Beetle adventure racing was awesome. Used to play to see who made cups of tea in our house.

Goldeneye all day long.

Won money and everything playing that bad boy!! However it wasn't a viable business model when I presented it to the bank manager . . .

I loved wave race, but having played it again recently I shouldn't have bothered, these games don't age well at all!

In addition to the ones you mention in the first post I would suggest Diddy Kong Racing....imo far superior to Mario Kart as it doesn't penalise you for being good (cheating ai in Mario Kart) and had a ton more tracks too.

SS silicon valley is a super game, one of my favourites on n64 including body harvest and blast corps!

Didn't SIlicon Valley have a glitch so you couldn't actually complete the game? I seem to remember that at the time.

Super Smash Bros, Zelda, Goldeneye, and Fifa 99 made my childhood

yup. A trophy you could not collect. I got it though. I think you needed to enable a cheat to be able to jump higher etc. edit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8a5EIPEDobI

Blast Corps was one game ahead of it's time for tech. I loved conkers bad fur day. Loved the speed of extreme G the game was not that good though after the initial buzz wore off. F zero x was lovely and smooth @ 60fps. Zelda OOT and MM fascinating emotional haunting games.

I forgot about ISS 64. Best football game ever or is it Sensible soccer? It's a 1-1
#25
Goldeneye, Mario 64.

Micro machines - On multiplayer.

I wouldn't play on the original hardware, however they are wonderful for emulation. Goldeneye, Mario 64 and Wave Race are fantastic at 1080p resolution played with a 360 pad. Textures and fonts are muddy but forgivable.

I also use a Gamecube emulator to play F-Zero GX, other than the menu screens it looks like a modern game when rendered at high res.

Rare were a very prominent developer in the 64 era. Most of the games mentioned (Goldeneye, Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong Racing, Blast Corps, Banjo Kazooie, Jet Force Gemini, Perfect Dark) were at the hands of Rare. A once great English developer.

Shame they've not continued with that kind of form. Seems they went downhill when they were acquired by Microsoft. It's almost as if they bought them just to disable them as developers for Nintendo.

I've still got Buck Bumble somewhere i think....with the yellow vibration pack it came with :) Speaking of flying games another one I liked was Forsaken, well, once you got the hang of the controls anyway!

But I would also like the give a mention to Mario Kart 64

Shadowman is also great
#35
Banjo-Kazooie and Zelda OoT.

Banjo ages quite well actually, still one of the best games out there.
