Now it was chance the deal would not be there but when the guy behind the counter said a guy had come in and bought 9 in one go all the stock it makes my blood boil I only want one because I am a collector, I have been on this site for years and this has got so bad now there is no point going for the deals anymore.

Rant over

I've got a couple of people that I know who are collectors, there's several games that they own that I've never been able to play due to the amount they go for on eBay, I simply can't afford, they won't even let me borrow the game...

I wouldn't let you borrow them either.

you're a collector, so there's loads of games and consoles that you own and don't play, that makes me angrier than someone wanting to make a little profit from stupid people paying over the odds.

Bit harsh. Collectors preserve games for future generations to enjoy ;)

Lesson to be learnt from this I think is to get the earlier. Agreed though it can be a pain when that happens and I do like a lie in on my days off.... ;)

It is unfortunate that there will be those on here that are only in it for their own greed/profit.
If I've seen something good that's local I'll let my friends and family know first before posting it on here, before the greedy snatch it all.

Smyths Toys Superstores have customers other than members of HotUKDeals.

Suggestion: Ring your local store in advance of travelling next time or, if an item is available online, check the stock of your local store(s).

Did your Dad sell items for profit via eBay (or EbAy)?

Secret Of Mana being one game I'd love to play through but because a "collector" owns it, that copy is out of circulation which in turn drives up the price of the game, making out unaffordable to myself.

I'm a collector but I bought multiple copies when they went down to £24 not that long ago.
Flipped a couple for £45-£49 and covered the cost of mine.
If you were genuinely a collector you would have bought this sooner.

Don't forget to blame the shops for selling so many at once and yourself for waiting so long. Everyone's a useless waste of breath when you're optimistic about a situation!

:D I just don't like the games being locked in a glass cabinet or in a draw, never going to be played again. You made me laugh with your reply btw

:)

What you like has little influence on the collector that has taken the time/trouble to source the product, knows what the item may cost to replace, & wishes to not have anybody (else) touch it.

Maybe you can sit in the same room when it is on display. Will that help? ;)

I've played and completed them on Emulators now....mostly. I just don't see why anyone should care this person wants to buy a game to sit gathering dust while there could be others wanting to play the game.

Collectors don't buy items to lend to people. The fact some may be hard to find is what makes them collectable.

If you want to borrow games, try a library.

Collectors may buy a Limited/Collectors/Special Edition to store & a 'standard' ("vanilla" / solus) edition to play.

I bought the Nintendo Switch variant of "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" Limited Edition.

I don't even plan on buying a Nintendo Switch.

How angry are you now?

Oh, so you are only angry when Collectors own items that you either do not want to play or do not care to play.

Selective resentment, then.

OK.

Well, the way Nintendo is giving nothing away on the Switch Virtual Console they actually might.

I absolutely agree with you OP it's the greed these people that rids deals in seconds. I also makes retailers not honour their prices cause 1 person bought 10. I think anyone who says bought 5 for eBay should be banned immediately!!!!

TBF I have only just got a Wii U that is why I have just started collecting Amiibos (yes late to the party) for the record I own secret of mana! And I have a games room where all my friends and my kids friends play all my games and have full access to them. My sons friends love mortal kombat on the SNES most stuff I run through emulation now as it works better on a HD tv.

GET SECRET OF MANA YOU WILL LOVE IT!

At the moment I am collecting the big box WiiU games I also play all my games none are sealed!

I rescue most of my games from carboot sales and charity shops me and my son are out at 6am every sunday!

For best emulation Homebrew a old Wii you can pick them up for £10 128gb USB stick and 1gb sd card is all you need.

If there were 9 people in queue before him & they all had one each, he would still be moaning. You win some you loose some i guess. That's life. I'am planning on buying 5 packets of
Andrex Classic White Compressed Toilet Roll Tissue Paper. Should i be banned?
Ban the wingers, seems fair?

I collect certain things, but I use them all. Because I love and enjoy them. I am sure they are worth as much to me to do this, than whoever would buy them on ebay for stupid amounts of money.

I don't really see the point if someone who loves the item can't use it an enjoy it.

I still wouldn't lend them to anyone though X)

Got a couple of records autographed once. Was asked if I wanted my name written on them, which I replied 'why wouldn't I?'. To which I got the reply 'because they're worth more if I don't write your name'. I thought, that must be soul destroying, having people ask you to sign things just because they want to make money from them.

In the end I got my name on one, but he didn't write it on the other. I think he thought he was doing me a favor. It's odd, I am the collector, surely they are worth as much to me as any random on ebay?

OP is angry someone bought something to sell to other people.

OP wants the same item and put it in a cupboard for 50 years.

your all mugs for overpaying for them when they clearly are limited the amount for sale so they can make more money of you

I have never and will never pay for something over the RRP or if i know they are purposly doing this, if a phone comes out and i really want it but it 'sells out' if i can't buy it within 1 month of release then im not buying it

same with the dji mavic i was so excited but the fact i have to pay the same price as someone who nabbed one 3 months early really annoys me and i will just not buy one altogether

What do you do if the Recommended Retail Price changes before you buy something you really want?

Also, who else mentioned "overpaying" for anything?

I personally just boycott when companys try to limit the product or change the price, the only reason they do this is because people put up with it and suck it all in, if people would just boycott it then companies would have to change there strategy..
