Submitted First claim by First week of June. Got the cheque with 10 days of submitting. Not working days, just ten days in total. 2 emails in between too.

How NOT to miss a cashback claim ?

Spend sometime in preparing for the cashback claim. Some of the cashback terms can be very confusing like 120 days of connection / 4th month bill etc. Dont worry, MS Excel comes very handy to solve this problem. Here is what I have done.

http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/7554/cnmexcelchart1aa9.jpg

Do one like this and you will never miss your cashback. Golden rule 1: Send your cashback claim by Recorded delivery and if the claim is huge, go for a special dlivery. The money spend on this is worth the hassle. Golden rule 2: Note down the deadline for each cashback claim and do everything you can to submit asap.

Don't forget, if you are on o2 (and possibly other networks) you won't get bill 13 unless you've exceeded your air-time package in month 12. Hence, you'll have nothing to show you've been connected for 360 days. No proof = no cashback! Some other retailers accept downloads from the networks' web-site, CNM don't.

Thanks Tyke for the tip

Well, instead of cancelling the contract exactly in 12 months, allow one day extra. That should get you the 13th month bill for ~ £1 extra (line-rental for a day)

i have just taken one contract v3i 12mth free on orange in Apr. so far so good.

1) Was it Pay As You Go or contract?
contract.
2) Were you were happy with the delivery speed?
not the next workind day since order, but not too long.
3) Did you have any problems with the order itself?
did online order, no problem with checkout process, phone has no problem. but was put on itemised billing without my consent.
4) Did you receive cashback with little or no problems, or did you have to push them for cashback or even take legal action?
not yet submit any claim yet.
5) Please comment on other aspects which you thought were good/bad.
it's many cheap (12mth free/12mth contract) deals on good phones.
6) Is there anything the company needs to improve on?
the website needs improving, i don't like the fancy 'scrolling' of deals. also the customer number is 08xx.
7) Would you recommend them or use them again personally?
yes.
#5
Itemised billing is usually automatically selected. You normally have to cancel it yourself via the network.
#6
1) Was it Pay As You Go or contract? - Contract
2) Were you were happy with the delivery speed? - Next Day
3) Did you have any problems with the order itself? - No, although they sent me the wrong cashback claim form and I had to request the correct one.
4) Did you receive cashback with little or no problems, or did you have to push them for cashback or even take legal action? - Successfully claimed the first 4 of 5 cashbacks with no problems. They even send an e-mail to confirm receipt of claim.
5) Please comment on other aspects which you thought were good/bad. - They have a recommend a friend service which earns you £10 or £20 if they take out a contract. 2 of my friends did this and I received nothing.
6) Is there anything the company needs to improve on? - The website lacks detail and could be easier to navigate
7) Would you recommend them or use them again personally? - Yes

All the networks need to be canceled one month early(month 11 write notice), therefore to get the last cashback, do I take one extra month, not just one more day?Does the company accept the final bill if I give a notice at month 11?
#8
Allowing 1 day extra or making a chargeable call will force the network to send a final bill, which will be at the end of 365 days / 12 months. This is the 13th bill from your network. Some network like CollNewMobile require proof that you were with the network for 365 days and in such case, this last bill will be enough.

Make sure you give 1 month notice after the end of the 11th month ( or 1 day after) so as to cancel the contract at the end of month 12. Assuming, you were connected to the network on 10th January 2006, you should serve the 1 month notice on 11th Dec 2006 (or + 1 day) to end the contract.

Thanx Edi for above time table on Excel - I was just about to send my 1st claim - 4th bill instead of waiting next month's! This could have been messy!

I've got 2 'Order Numbers'. The 1st one was on the email sent by CoolNewMobile confirming my order. The 2nd one was on the email from Mobile Affiliates again confirming the order and that 'it had been successfully processed and will be despatched shortly.' Which number should I use to claim?

DuckMagic - I'll post feedback after I sort out my cashback next month.
#10
I'm a bit confused edi, I thought having your 4th bill must prove connection for 120 days because you are already paid up for the next month (as they take it in advance) and if you have to give at least 30 days notice that must mean you would be connected for at least 120 days, no?

#11
No confusion here. My feedback with Coolnewmobile is based on successful claim.

Order number?

The order number given by CNM will be something like this 123456. When Mobile Affiliates confirms the order, they prefix it with CNM and the order number now is CNM123456. The reason for this is Mobile Affiliates manages many sis sites including CoolNewMobile (CNM), PhoneboxDirect etc (PBD) etc.

4th bill or 120 days of connection?

Have a look at CoolNewMobile's cashback claim form (same for Phoneboxdirect too). The form can be downloaded >>here<<

It states this:

Send us this form and a copy of the bill that arrives showing you’ve been connected for 120 days. i.e. if you were connected on 1st January, you need to send in the bill that is dated around the 1 May. This is 120 days (4months) after connection.

Looking at my Excel chart above, a bill that proves 120 days of connection is the 5th bill and NOT the 4th bill (as 1st bill is sent out on day 0).

If you shun 0870 numbers, call 01270412304 (ask for Dave in Claims Dept).

Thanx again for the info above - I thought that I was clever and had the old claim forms already printed. I would not have known about the new address!

About the order number - the original CNM number was 6 'numerals' as you stated but the Mobile Affiliates one did not have any letters such as CNW - but contained 8 'numerals'. I guess that I will need the Mobile Affiliates number to claim with as it is them who will be processing it.
#14
Funny i was given a PBD number even though I bought from coolnewmobile.
#15
They're owned by the same people.
#16
As long as my cashback claim goes through I'm happy, I sent it off last week.
#17
Best of luck.
#18
Just taken out another contract with them. This time for a Clearance Nokia 6280 on 3. Order placed Monday morning. Phone delivered next day by Royal Mail special delivery. Well packaged and no signs that the phone is anything but new - except that there is a bit of movement in the slider mechanism (is this normal for the 6280, the 2 halves sort of wobble when closed?). You only get the mains charger, data cable and CD-Rom so have bought earphones / car charger and bluetooth headset from e-bay. Happy so far. I will be porting my number from O2 later this month and make my 5th and final claim against CNM at that time. So far, they have always delivered.

Edi - The 2nd suggestion is the best (make a chargeable call). I cancelled with o2 slightly into the 12th month, but they closed the account at the end of 12 months. They sent me the standard email saying they would send a final bill, but didn't. When I rang their CS, they said that despite the email, they don't send a final bill if there is nothing outstanding on the account. I explained it was needed for a cashback and they promised to send one - but didn't! I contacted them again and told them I would hold them responsible if I didn't get my £150 cashback due to them not sending a final bill, so they promised it again - and didn't send it! Cashback time ticking away, stress level off the Richter scale!

I'm sorry, but I've got quite a bee in my bonnet about this and I've mentioned it before in a previous thread. I could've been £150 out of pocket. Luckily, I was with one of the best retailers around and found out that they accepted downloads from the o2 on-line account. Account details printed, posted, £150 received! Job done BUT it wouldn't have been paid had I been with CNM or another company that required original bills.

I hope that my documented experience will benefit other members, which is exactly what this Forum is about. I can tell you, that was a really stressy time for me.

(Ducky - I've got a couple of experiences with other retailers and will complete your 'questionnaire' soon - just returned from holiday and got stuff to catch up on)

Boo just got my cashback chq but its £10 short?
Is there a administration fee with claims?
#21
No administration fee - are you sure you claimed 1/5th of the amount payable for the year? Remember - it takes into account any reduced rentals you pay at the initial period of the contract. So, for my recent 3 contract, the cashback for the year is £367.50, even though I am paying £35 per month, because their is a 50% reduced rental for the first 3 months of the contract. Hence, I get £73.50 at each cashback claim - not £84.

If you claimed the wrong amount, I'm surprised and delighted they paid any part of the claim.
#22
Same as you £367.50 on 3 contract should have got £73.50 not £63.50.

I went for the LG u8380 deal, which was half price rental for first 3 months.
#23
Sounds like you should write to them and query the amount.
#24
Going to get a V3i from here and have just some quick questions as I've never dealt with contract (and cashback) phones before..

- How do you cancel itemized billing?

- How easy is it to "cashback" ?

- When do I know how to send a cashback claim? (What proof do I send - do I get a monthly bill?)

- When should I cancel? After Month 12, on month 12, before?

_____

+1 to all.. ;P

Thanks,
NoobKyle.

p.s > place looks good + lots of positive reviews, makes me feel a lot better :P
#25
You should refer to the first post by Edi in this thread for details of how to keep track of the cashback payments. See the first post in the thread for the cashback for (the 5-equal-payment form) which tells you when to send things. Yes, you do get a monthly bill (even if you cancel itemised billings). The cashback form will tell you which need sending off. Refer to Edi's post to help you understand the different terms used such as days connected and month's bill. ;)

You cancel itemised billing by ringing the network from your handset and telling them you want to cancel itemised billing.

Instructions on how to cancel the insurance should hopefully be with the phone.

To cancel you telephone the network from your handset on the first day of the 12th month telling them you want to cancel after the 12th month.

Hope that helps.

p.s > place looks good + lots of positive reviews, makes me feel a lot better :P

Glad the feedback is actually helping. :)
#26
hi

is the itemised bill seperate from the one you need to send back in order to claim the cash?
#27
Welcome to HUKD si2006 :)

They dont need an itemised bill. In fact I didnt opt for one. Its the first TWO sheets they need for cashback claims (Originals).

Hey Edi, An issue with CNM! Got connected with them (1st bill states that line rental began on Mar 23rd) therefore should send in Bill dated July 23rd for proof of 120 days. Did that via Special delivery around end of July. They e-mailed me telling them they'd received it. Then y'day they sent me a printed letter saying I sent the bill in too early and that they'd bill me £10 admin fee for doing that! Frustrating! I'm gonna call em up on Friday to complain. Any1 else had this problem?
#29
Mikeydude,

Can you please (if you dont mind) double check the date on the FIRST bill? If it is 23rd March (connection days 0) then 23rd July bill (connection days 120) is the correction bill for the First Claim.

Obviously, you couldnt have sent the 23rd July bill before the 23rd July & so I cant see an issue of sending early here :(
#30
Mikey,
120 days after 23 March is actually 21 July, so you have correctly sent them the bill that proves you were connected for 120 days. When you call them tomorrow, you can tell them they have a couple of offers that I'm interested in, but being idiots like this makes me want to wait for a deal that interests me with one of the more sensible companies. Tis their loss !

Doesn't make any sense! You can only claim early by sending in the bill for June.......let us know how you get on Mikey

ok guys just called them up. After making me wait 10 mins they finally found my paperwork and apologised for their mistake, blaming orange for their "weird billing system". A company of muppets, but if those cheques come through I'm not complaining on the £95 profit! Quidco rules!

Yeh, like you're the only person who's ever taken out an Orange contract through them !!

Well done Mikey, let us know when the cheque arrives.
#34
well, ive just taken a contract out with them, "12 Months Free Line Rental on a 12 Month Contract" on the nokia 6233, hope it all goes well  !
#35
As mentioned earlier my cashback was £10 short, so I complained & received a cheque for the missing amount this morning.
#36
Claim -2 : Update

Got the cheque for £72 - 2nd claim this morning.

Received the cheque within 9 days of them receiving the claim (12th Aug). :)
#37
so to be a 100% sure, do I only send:
1.the bill for the correct month e.g. send in only bill 5(or send all the bills upto the date)
2. do i send the 1st page of the bill? (or all the pages)
3. the pdf. they sent me everytime. I dont get why they need the same info everytime my name and address is on the bills! :(

thanks ppl
#38
Answers:

1. Only the ORGINAL bill for that month (5th bill for the 1st claim & so on)
2. You need to send the First 2 pages of the bill in ORIGINALS (1/2 & 2/2)

the pdf. they sent me everytime. I dont get why they need the same info everytime my name and address is on the bills!

Hmmm, I am more worried about the money :-D
#39
ta edi, taken a weight off my mind.
#40
hey guys, finally received my cheque yesterday morning. It has taken hmmmm.... around a month for them to process it, but I got there in the end! Cheers guys!
