I don't think this retailer has much repuation or is really reliable. Their website looks pretty dodgy too, there's just something about this company that I don't trust.
#4
I also don't like the fact that I can change the deals by latering the web address.

Take this for example:
http://www.mobilerainbow.co.uk/deals_description.asp?id=353&planid=218&dealid=8489&cont=18

Its an 18 month contract with 12 months free line rental.

I modify the end of the address and behold, it's now 12 months free on a 12 month contract, a completely unrealistic deal for this phone that won't be honoured:
http://www.mobilerainbow.co.uk/deals_description.asp?id=353&planid=218&dealid=8489&cont=12

Surely that info shouldn't all be altered by the web address but held on the server and accessed from a single address??

I find it a little unprofessional to say the least. :( I guess it all boils down to whether they pay cashback well or not. I've recommended Mobile Rainbow to people in the past so hopefully they'll pay out.

I took out 2 contracts with Just3G last November. They are no longer trading online and they have featured on Watchdog. I've been fortunate enough to receive my first 2 claims worth over £200 and I'm just waiting for the cashback for my 2nd claims. They are still responding to emails but I know 100's of people from various internet forums that have been ripped off by these cowboys.
I even made a court claim against them but received my first payments before the claim was taken through the court.

I think you can't go wrong sticking to the recommended retailers in this forum, click on the link below.

That's an interesting link in #6.

As for Mobile Rainbow, I would never use them again. My Credit Card was Compromised on their site even though they deny this could happen. I have my own reasons why I'm 98% sure it was them.
Cashback is hard work.
Customer Services is even harder.

Another 'naff' company is Clubmobile. They are now not advertising and do not fulfill their cashback obligations.

@Dino
My credit card was also fraudulently used shortly after i took out a contract with them (£2000+ worth)
i m still waiting for my second cashback after 1 1/2 months after faxing my bill to them.
I wont take another cashback deal with them...

Now that is interesting.
I hope you got all your money back. I fax and post my bills to them. Hell would freeze over before I use them again. Scammers.:x :x

These guys are fraudsters!

I placed an order for a 3 contract, was told the phone was out of stock. After 2 weeks cancelled.
Couple of months later the company took out a three contract in my name with my credit card information!

AVOID!!!

Well, scammers sums it up very well.
I'm off to the small claims Court (will cost me £50 fee though) for the full amount of £432 as they have broken the contract by not paying the cash back.
Promises of payment, technical problems in sending a cheque and now 4 months later they don't reply to anything. The Indian call centre occasionally says 'have a nice day won't you'. You have to feel sorry for them being asked to lie continuously. Companies house shows it is run by Indian nationals and they use all Indian call centres and sales. I've yet to have an answer from the 'helpline', only calls in response to letters.
More grief than it is ever worth AVOID.:x

PS if, despite my recommendation, you do use Mobile Rainbow, ensure you print out the screen with the terms of the cashback and what the contract actually is. This is because there is no written contract or invoice whatsoever - you just get the phone direct from the provider. This makes taking legal action difficult as there is no record of an actual contract. All contact from them is by phone, they never Email or send a letter - so evidence is slim. I now record all conversations and make contemporaneous notes of the few conversations I've had. All web messages via the site (they are ignored totally but at least you show you've tried) should be screen captures for further evidence.
Send claims by special delivery and ensure you take a screen capture (Royal mail) of the signature and confirmation of delivery.
Keep the Royal Mail receipt. It's all evidence to show you have been meticulous and kept accurate records for the Judge.

I initially had problems with Mobile Rainbow, but they always came good in the end. I figured i would never receive the cashback unless I pestered them. It took 2 phone calls for the first lot, and only 1 phonecall for the second lot. Got the cashback in the end though!

mozzer99, Welcome to HUKD. :)
Good luck with the Small Claims Court, can you let us know how you get on? :)

timmons, Welcome to HUKD. :)
Nice one, but why should customers get messed about for something that is rightfully yours?

After reading all this, I can't help but to register as a user, to tell my side of story. :viking: I had the same bad experience with Mobile Rainbow. One year ago, I have just applied for a new credit card. After my credit card activation, I have only use the card once in GAP boutique and the next thing is on rainbow mobile by placing a Nokia 6680 (12 months contract) order. After placing order, my card was fraud by someone, that person place the same Nokia 6680 order with orange and also bought a few items under my account. I quickly contacted my bank to stop it. After a lot of calling and debating with the bank, i was lucky that I do not need to pay for all the fraud usage. At that time, I suspect it was rainbow mobile as I have not use the card on any other places except on gap and rainbow mobile to the time I’d discover the fraudulent, moreover my card was a newly issued card. Just 2 transactions, my card was fraud. I went to the police but nothing can be done as I do not have enough proof.

On the first 6 months cashback, I faxed in my bill but payment was not issued until i called to confront them. Then on the 12 months (Oct 2006) after I had faxed in my phone bill, the same thing happened but this time it was worst. I tried to follow up with its customer service phone number and enquiry phone number, the phone rang but no one picks up. I have called the company for hundreds of times (mon-sat) (morning-evening), the same thing happened (Rings but No one pick up). I went to its website; I realized the advertisement and phone model are sort of outdated. It seems to me that the website hasn’t been updated for a while and I told myself maybe they have close down and are no longer in operation. By the end of Nov 2006, I gave up. In beginning of Jan 2007, I went to its website again trying to convince myself that I’m right but it’s up again with Christmas promo with new phone model to lure more customers. I was shocked and frustrated, instantly I rang its enquiry phone number, it works, someone picked up. I complaint that I have not received my cashback payment, bla..bla..bla..it went. FINALLY, I was being issued a handwritten cheque by post for the cashback. After all the trouble. I will never ever buy from them again and I advice people not to do so either. NOT RECOMMENDED

Opsss  ...i am so sorry Duck, did not realised it's in the wrong thread. Will make sure i won't make the same mistake again. Thanks for the repost.

It's ok. ;-) Thanks for the feedback.

I ordered a phone from Mobile Rainbow last year. Sent cashbacks as requested. NO cheques received. I have rung and rung the helplines - no pickup. The fax number doesn't work. The website - lacks information

= DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!

I have today filed my claim in the online Small Claims Court. If they don't pay plus the fee (£30 it turns out) I look forward to instructing bailiffs to remove furniture and phones (even the ones they don't answer).
Thanks for sharing your experience Bacardi.

Im in the same boat as a lot of you, bought 2 phones from them and they haven't honoured my cashbacks. They sent confusing information too, one saying to claim in a certain month but a voucher saying a different month. Thought I was the only one stung by Mobile Rainbow but now least I know I wasnt the only one! After reading your comments I think I'll pester them.

You are welcome mozzer ;-) . :giggle: Yeah, would love to see bailiffs remove their phones especially. Lol~ Hopefully more people would read all these reviews and will not get into their trap anymore. All are bad feedbacks, nothing good. :!:

I took out two contracts with these crooks. Have not received cashback for either contract despite four attempts, I have made dozens of calls to the liars in their call centres, sent dozens of e-mails and now finally have given them 14 days to pay the lot or i will issue county court proceedings. These poeple are professional liars, changing the terms and conditions as it suits them. AVOID at all costs !!:x :x

UPDATE.
Mobile Rainbow have disputed the whole claim I filed at the Small Claims Court, so I will now be going to court. So even though I have sent the cashbacks on time and can prove so, they still won't pay.
As they cannot have a defence I can only presume they hope I will baulk at travelling to court. I'm so angry over this I would crawl to the Court.
BE WARNED!

FURTHER UPDATE...
Well what can I say - further to the above I've just checked my bank account and they have paid in full - including the £30 Court fee!
Despite having stated they are defending the claim.
What are they playing at?
Needless to say I'll never take out another contract - it is just not right to have to go to court to get your cashback!

I have now been copied the defence which states that the cash back was to be paid in three equal instalments, not installments related to the amount claimed. Timescale not quoted..... This is despite the Indian call centre painfully describing how you have to submit cashback at 6, 9 and 12 month intervals. I don't recall anything saying 3 equal repayments. Seems to me the rules change or are made up as you go along. There was no defence to the delays........

I would be more than happy to go to Court to get what's owed to me. I think you have done a great job standing your ground. Well done.

BAD!!!!! Same for me,sent 1st claim off in time,by special delivery and they deny recieving it ,even although i have a signature as proof.Refused to do anything about it - should have followed it up but couldnt be bothered with the grief !

NEVER USE MOBILERAINBOW THEY WILL RIP U OFF FOR SURE !

If you want to get back at MSols Limited for ripping YOU off, then RIP THEM OFF! Phone their FREEFONE number 0800 097 3651 and leave it off the hook for hours.. It costs them but not you. How sweet is vengeance? VERY! I have racked up over 70 hours so far so at about 2.99 pence a minute (cost of Freefone numbers to Mobile Rainbow) I reckon I have cost them £125.00 +
Magic eh?
