Hmmm have had bad experience with their customer services. In trying to cancel an order for a PM deal, i spent an hour on hold only to be cut off having been given the number by another representative. Be warned-if you order from these guys, be 100% sure that you won't need to cancel, because the moment you let them know that you do want to cancel, you will just get passed from pillar to post and end up against a brick wall. Although phone, delivery etc was fine, and i'm now reasonably happy with my purchase, this has been in spite of Phonebox's service as opposed to because of it. I'm waiting to see if my first cashback claim will involve a smoother process...

A word of advice read their cashback terms very carefully, then re-read them as they are not particularly clear,(a cynical man might say deliberately unclear) and they deduct £10 from your cashback everytime you send in a wrong claim or more than 1 claim in each envelope.

Ordered 2 phones from them first out of stock for a week or so then they sent the wrong phone, return was relatively simple although I had to kick off a bit to get them to send me a prepaid bag to return the phone in.

Second phone no problems

Not the worst customer service but not great, would not use again!

Bought the 3rd phone from the mobile outlet , they were much better, cashback arrangement is simpler also.

I bought a '12 month free' phone in Sept 2005. No problem with the order and I have received 4 of the 5 cashbacks. All paid within 2 weeks with an email confirming receipt of the claim form. I'm delighted with the phone, with O2 and with phoneboxdirect.

Hello Guy`s I need some help if possible please.

I ordered this phone on the 12 month free contract and soon wil be due to claim cash back.
If i claim to soon then its gonna invalid the cashback so I need to know at what point to claim.
I am not sure at what months the claims are made, eg: is it month 4 month 8 and month 12 ?? or is it months 6 and 12 ??

The cash back claim is very vauge which I was sent and I recieved no information when the phone was sent so I really need to know at what points to claim and for how much ?
I hope some one could please help me out .

I got the same deal eg: it costs me £30 a month for 12 months 1st 3 months half price so at what months do I need to claim and how many cash back claims.

Thank you so much for any help.

ps: big thanks edi for the bump

This is the cashback claim I recieved via email and would like to know if it is the correct 1 ? its states 2 equal payments , can any1 confirm this who purchased this phone razri 12 months free contract at £30 a months 1st 3 months half price on vodafone anytime 200 from phonebox

When did u get the first bill Kevann ?
#7
Since your cashback claim is between £201-£600, you need to claim in 5 instalments.

Instalment 1: - Send us the claim form and original bill that arrives showing you’ve been connected for 4 months. i.e. if you were connected on the 1st of January, you need to send in the bill that is dated around the 1st of May. This is 120 days (4months) after connection. See porting below
Instalment 2: - Send the claim form and original monthly bill dated 180 days (6 months) after connection.
Instalment 3: - Send the claim form and original monthly bill dated 240 days (8 months) after connection.
Instalment 4: - Send the claim form and original monthly bill dated 300 days (10 months) after connection.
Instalment 5: - Send the claim form and original monthly bill dated 360 days (12 months) after connection.

Hi edi I just recieved my vodaphone bill dated 18 august to 30 september
this is my 1st bill from vodafone.

Thank you for your time and help.

It looks like 5 cash back claims then edi for this package am on.

They are trying to muddle me up with the cash back claim i was sent am sure so they can invalidate my claim.

so am I right in saying my claims for cash back are around (1st, dec 18 ) (2nd, 18 feb) (3rd, 18 april) (4th, 18 jun)
(5th, 18 august)

Thanks Kevann :) Just to confirm again... You receive bill on 18th of every month. Am I correct?

Hi edi , My 1st bill was dated 19 september 06
its for the period 18th august to 30th september.

Should I use the claim form (the 1 posted above ) I was sent via email edi ??? is this correct

Edit:
I think I will know alot more when I get my 2nd bill from vodafone ,and as long as I claim on that 4th month period (make my 1st cashback on the 25th of december for £75 ) it should be just over the 4 month period and well within the 1 month claim timescale.

(Then claim 2 on the 25th feb £60 ) (claim 3 on the 25th april £60 ) ( claim 4 on the 25th june £60 ) ( and claim 5 on the 25th august £60 ) . total cashback = £315

Does this sound about right edi ?

and on the chashback claim form issues what would you advise i use ? The form they emailed me or the form on this forum .

If you notice the form they sent me to claim cashback is very decieving . Only states 2 claims at month 6 and 12

I have received a letter from them saying i sent the cashback in to early. and i am going to be charged £10 for the trouble. What i do not understand is they have wrote i needed to send the bill dated around 8th of Jan.I was connected around the 20th of August,my 1st bill was 8th of Sept.So i sent the bill dated 8th of Dec being 4 months:thinking:
They wrote saying i needed to send bill dated 8th of Jan:thinking: i make that 5 months. Are they just trying not to pay me or have i goofed big time.I cannot figure out how it can be 8th of Jan as which ever way i look at it thats 5 month bill not 4.Help needed.
#14
4 months is defined as 120 days after date of connection. You need to send in the first bill you receive after the 120 day period. 120 days from 20th August is 18 December. Hence, the bill you need to send is the 8 January bill.

Thanks Lowtrawler:thumbsup:
As stated above their T&Cs are deliberately confusing.
It states on their cashback form send 4/6/8/10/12 months bills. You would assume they mean 4th month bill but as you have pointed out they really mean 5th month bill.So to send the 12 month bill you would have to be connected for 13 months. So i would now have to send my monthly bills being 5/7/9/11/13.This is the first and the last time i use these guys as this company is deliberately trying to confuse customers so that they don't have to pay cashback.

I think 1 of the problems for you has been the delay in getting your first bill from the day of connection. Usually, your first bill would be within 2/3 days of your connection and so 20 August connection = 23rd of month bill. It then becomes quite easy to go - my 4th month is December and so I need to send in my 23rd December bill.

The T's & C's from PhoneBoxDirect relating to bill periods are shared by most if not all the cashback retailers and so I wouldn't hold it against them. In fact, they managed to inform you of the error in sufficient time for you to submit a valid claim using your 8 January bill (many of the retailers would inform you of the error to late for you to take action and you would lose the right to all cashbacks current and future). Hence, although you feel disgruntled about being charged £10 for an early claim and annoyed at the T's and C's not being clearer - you should actually see it as positive they got back so quickly.

I appreciate your comments and help.
This is the first time i have had to send in my 5th bill as when it has stated 4th bill it has always been the 4th monthly bill.I have sent of many 4th bills to E2save and it has always been the 4th monthly bill and never the 5th.When it is writen please send 4/8/12 bills its always been 4th/8th/12th monthly bill not as Phonebox which is 5/9/13.They did send me a letter saying it has been rejected but they also sent me 2 emails,1 stating they have received it and a 2nd stating that "we are pleased to confirm your claim has been processed",nothing about it being rejected.I will send it agiain and will see what happens. Thanks again for your help.

The first bill you send is the first one received 120 days after connection. You then send in every second bill thereafter. That is, the first bill you receive after 13 May 2007.
#20
I did exactly the same. Their cash back terms are very vague. my question is do i deduct the £10 off my claim form or just claim as normal?

also imagine getting the bill that says i have been connected for 12 months (i.e. 13th bill) will be an effort as i wanted to disconnect after 12 months

i have got a vodafone one, but as other networks they havent sent me a bill in the 1st couple of days. i bought it on the 13 january 07. so which bill is the 1st i send.
suspended#22

You would need to send the 1st bill after 120 days connection,so as you were connected on 13th Jan that would make it the 1st bill you receive after 13th May (120 days)

The e-mail confirmations show that they are processing. Generally, they send 2 e-mails:

1. To confirm receipt. (usually within 14 days of sending).
2. To confirm processing (usually within the following week) and that it will take "up to" 28 days (read 28 days) to confirm claim and send out cheque.

Hence, it can take up to 45 days from start to finish. I have found them very reliable. If you sent your paperwork in mid February, you should get your cheque either late March or early April.

Looking at your earlier posts, your initial claim presumably is based on your 8 January bill. Hence, I hope that you didn't send the paperwork mid February. This is outside the 1 calendar month period and your claim will fail. They need to have received your paperwork by 8 February at the latest.

do vodafone send one after you pay the last months money?

By this i think they mean (and its just a guess)that the final bill you get. When your 12 months are up(you dont cancel exactly on the 11 month)you get a another bill(13th) with bits & pieces of your 12 month usage if you have gone over. But as i've said its just a guess.

Can anyone confirm if you can add t-mobile's web 'n' walk AFTER you've signed up for a contract with PBD please?

This is an extract from the terms and conditions:-

Tariff Change
If you change the tariff you selected on your Mobile Media Systems Deal within 180 days of your initial bill, we will invoice you with the minimum sum of £100 plus VAT per handset. All cash back claims become null and void if your tariff is changed within the contract period.

Just wondering if anyone has any experience of this or if they would use this as a reason not to pay out?

Thanks
Tracey

Edit to say I've just emailed them to ask the same question. Will post their reply in case anyone else is thinking of doing this.

Can someone please remove the bit about the caudwell group. Not only do the Caudwell group no longer exist, PBD had barely anything to do with that company in the first place.

Being a trading partner of anybodies means almost nothing. We could be trading partner with the Caudwell group simply by buying from them. They've added it in an attempt to look legitimate when they're infact sharks.

They charge fee if you send back your handset within the Distance Selling Regulations rules. This is illegal!

I agree that being a trading partner means very little and was probably added in to give credibility to the company. However, the different parts of the Caudwell Group essentially provided all of the services that you were buying through phoneboxdirect and so it did have some relevance. Although the Caudwell group no longer exists, the constituent companies of the old group still provide the same services that they always did.

They charge fee if you send back your handset within the Distance Selling Regulations rules. This is illegal!

I'm surprised if you were charged for sending back the handset inside the 7 day cooling off period permitted by the distance selling regulations. As I understand their T's & C's, providing you contact them to arrange the return of the phone and accessories, you will not be charged. If you return without contacting them - you will be charged £25. The distance selling regulations require you to give notification to the retailer first.

please can somebody help me.......
i successfully achieved a full year of cashback with phonebox direct/O2 last year.I renewed a 12 month contract with them and vodafone this year.when my first cashback claim was due I waited days for my ORIGINAL vodafone bill to arrive to no avail.I contacted vodafone who said " send in your online bill" i knew this wasnt right but sent it anyway and awaited the original bill from them so i could send that when it arrived. However, in the meantime i receive a letter from phonebox direct saying you sent the wrong bill, shouldve been the original(which i knew). You wont receive any further cashback money now.AAAGGGHHH! So i contacted vodafone and said where is my original bill ,to which they replied you dont get them anymore because you use online billing (which i wasnt aware that i wouldnt get the paper bill)

I am now 10 days over the date to return the cash back from phonebox direct and i am STILL waiting for the vodafone original paper bill to arrive.Phone box direct are having none of it and are refusing to pay me any money , ever.
Does anyone know where i stand, who i can contact, who is my argument with, ipersonally say it is the person i spoke to at vodafone that told me to send the online bill.
Please help!!!
suspended 1 Like #39
Very sorry to hear that:-(
I would say your argument is with Vodafone as they are providing you the paper bills.I would contact their customer care and tell them what has happened and how you have lost you cash claim due to them not sending you bills and how are they going to sort it out.PBD will just stick with you did not do what the terms said and thats it and as you have stated you have passed their timeline so getting anything from them will now be just pure luck.I would just argue your case with Vodafone & take it from there.Cashbacks use to be very easy at one time but now i am starting to stay away from them as one little mistake and you stand to lose alot of money.Best of luck with your claim:thumbsup:

Usually they do not mind as long it is not lower than the contract you are paying but saying that you are best to ask your cashback provider as you just don't know nowadays and any little adjustment to your bill and you lose your cashback.
