Anyone had any expereince of cashback fro phones2udirect ? I am still awaiting after 28 days. They have no phone number for their cash back dept and you have to email them... Will keep people informed as to how this goes.
#2
I'm still waiting after 14 days. Like you say, no means of contacting them. Will update on progress when I know more.

Phones 2u Direct cashback claims team is not customer facing and therefore unable to handle cashback enquiries by phone. Cashback claims are paid out in the form of a cheque, which are sent out within 45 days of receipt of a valid claim.

I will be making my first cashback claim in September and will leave feedback when I receive my cheque. I hope!!

Right, thanks cook!e!!

I'd leave you some rep but my reputation button seems to make everyone's rep jump up by ridiculous proportions, lol. I don't want to disrupt the time continum. :p

In terms of delivery ... brilliant. Next day by special delivery. The phones weren't locked either, though dont know if that's thanks to them or the network (o2). Just sent off 2 cash back claims last week (mine & my wifes). Will report back if/when succesful. Better had be coz it's worth £720 over the year for both phones!

I have been waiting 50 days now for my cash back I have emailed them and am still waiting, I will keep you updated.

Has anyone made a successful claim through phones2udirect?
#12
I posted a claim on the 25th of july, not heard anything but after reading the above posts emailed '"][email protected]' asking for an acknowledgement. i have been sent an automatic reply stating

a) We will also not be able to respond directly to questions that the answers can be found in the claims FAQ.
b) The next cashback cheque run will commmence September 1st.

so maybe a cheque in the 1st week of september?
#13
Thanks for the info hanif. It sounds like they do a monthly cheque run so I'll have to be patient and see what happens. It's a little disturbing that nobody has confirmed making a successful claim. Presumably nice1 would have been paid in the August run and have reported back by now. How about it nice1, was your claim successful?
#14
September 1st is 44 days after they signed for my claim... so let's hope that they do send out cheques then... I am beginning to get worried now, since I don't actually want the deal I am paying a fortune for - I only went for it because it would end up free, and I only use the phone 2 or 3 times a year! (I have no friends)

Cheers,
Mike

Mine delieverd and signed for on 28th Jul. On my count thats 20 WORKING days which they state on the website. Is that what everyone else is counting?

Fingers crossed I'll be included in the 1st September cheque run

Hold on to your proofs of delivery, just in case it results in a trip to the small claims court! Ive always been a PAYG man until these offers came out so I aint being ripped off!
#16
Ive had a response!

I will look into this for you.

There is somebody there then!
#17
I think their terms state payment to be up to 45 days from receipt of claim (no mention of working days). Hence, if they issue my cheque at the beginning of September, they will just about be on time. Nice1 claimed well before me and so it would be good to hear back from them.

Hi all, sorry for taking so long to post, but i got the same response, i should get it september 1st, i was emailing all departments 3 times a day, saying i was taking this to the small claims if i dont get me cash back, and finaly i got a human reply saying sorry, and that it will be paid on the next cheque run:grin: we will just have to wait and see.

Phones2udirect have a sneaky way of getting out of cashback deals. If there is anything wrong with the cashback claim, they wait until the date has passed for redemption to let you know your mistake.
I (stupidly) claimed a month early and was told 5 days after the claim date had closed that the date had passed.
Other companies are okay, but I would steer clear of phones2udirect.

As for mobile cashbacks, the best companies are e2save, The Link, OneStopPhoneShop, CarphoneWarehouse and The Mobile Shop.

Other companies are also reliable, but we've not had as much feedback for them: BuyMobilePhones.net is one.

CoolNewMobile pays out cashback well too with several confirmation emails sent, however their cashback is claimable in 5 stages so you really have to be on your toes.

Generally, if you send the claim at the right time and recorded delivery you WILL get your cashback. The reliability of a company seems to be based on how easy their claim terms are rather than whether they send out or not...
#21
Welcome to HotUKDeals by the way!!

I started a thread above, sorry didn't see this one first.

Avoid them like the plague. When I claime early, they didn't bother to 'process' my claim until after the calim date had expired. They they just ignored further emails. They also didn't deliver within 2 working days and blamed the Christmas post.

ABSOLUTE BUNCH OF W~#KERS!!! DON'T USE THEM.
I have previously used Dial-a-phone who were much more helpful.

Sorry to hear of your problems aknox. I suspect a lot of the cashback companies depend on you following the claim process to the letter in order to deliver the cash. It really is up to us to make sure we are compliant and so I wouldn't hold this one experience against phones2udirect. However, they do:

1. Take longer to pay than most - 45 days.
2. Fail to provide ANY details either with the order or after about claiming cashback - you have to research this yourself.
3. Appear to avoid meaningful communication on cashback issues.
4. Nobody has reported making a successful claim.
5. Do not acknowledge receipt of cashback claims.

A number of members are due to receive cashback from them in the next few days. Consequently, we will begin to get some evidence on how reliable their cashback deals are. Personally, I'm nervous about it and would choose not to deal with them again.

They are definately the worst cashback phone company i have ever dealt with. I would NOT recommend that any buy a phone from them. I sent my cashback form off at the end of June and start of July (2 different phones) and have not received anything back. Plus, if you miss a single cashback, the next ones are void.

This company plans to con you out of your money.
#26
qpan, the delays you have experienced are clearly unacceptable and outside their own 45 day payment terms. However, it would appear that they are planning a major payment run at the start of September. It seems that claims made since late June onwards are planned to be paid in this run. It would be good if everyone who either receives payment or fails to receive payment over the next 2 weeks reports back here.

Unfortunately, I sent a claim of in July but didn't send it recorded delivery because I had just returned from holiday, the post offices were shut and I wanted to ensure the claim arrived in good time. I'm not confident of payment but we shall see.
#27
Agree with other forum members here- STEER WELL CLEAR OF PHONES2UDIRECT!

Deals look great on paper, but when you get a tiny thing wrong on any of your cashback claims - that's it- deal's off and wham bam....full credit card payment taken for the FULL cost of your phone. The letter I received was from the 'CLAWBACK' department - if they have a full department for this, now does that give you a clue to how many people they're doing this to?

Go with one of the other reliable companies for reliable cashback.
#28
this is my 2nd phone from phones2u, save for all the bad things about this company (lower quidco payment!) they only want 3 cashback portions(so less on postage costs slightly less to remember) and they didn't charge my credit card (some others charge £2 or £4, if its a free line rental deal).

Remember if everyone is to be paid 1st sept its unlikely to show as a cheque or in your bank for another week. This company(& others) must be making loads on failed cashback claims & keeping cash in their accounts making £££'s in interest. So they are in no hurry to pay. It is sites like this that keep the pressure on these companies. Losing a £540 worth of cashback might be worth losing 20 customers over(for phones2u).

I am looking into starting a cashback mobile reseller, so any ideas are welcome. 8)

I hope you don't follow that principle when you start your new company!

Hmmm ... things don't sound too promising for the 2 claims I currently have sent in for processing (worth £240). Now approaching the 45 day deadline.

Am preparing myself for the worst ... and have actually discovered this online equivalent to the small claims court: www.moneyclaim.gov.uk

Seems to be very straightforward, might be worth checking it out if you're preparing for the worst like I am!

you misunderstood me!

not quite what I meant.

Just a little more patience. IF they are true to their word, they will have performed a cheque run on Friday. Let's assume they only posted those cheques today - Monday, and sent them 2nd class. We should start to receive our cashback from Wednesday onwards. If you have not received your cashback by Friday of this week, it will be time to try and contact them again.

If anyone receives their cashback, please report back here asap. I have still to hear of a single successful claim being made but live in hope.
#33
after continuously emailing all 3 depts at phones2u asking if i will get my cheque, i have a reply which is winding me up more,

'Please direct all queries relating to claims to [email protected], as we are unable to access their systems from this department. This will also allow clearer communication should this be necessary'

Will do - i'm in the same boat as you... didn't send the cashback off using recorded delivery. However, just a thought, even if you have proof of postage, you still do not have proof of posting the correct bill, so does posting recorded delivery actually acheive anything?
#35
Proof of posting only proves that you sent it, where as recorded delivery proves that they received it and it wasn't lost in the post.
#36
.............
#37
But surely all that proves is that they received an envelope from you, which they could claim was empty?
Otherwise you could just post empty envelopes to them via recorded and claim the money via small claims?

Yeh, but that would be really dumb!! Why guarantee yourself lots of extra hassle & effort by posting empty envelopes by recorded delivery?!!:confused::confused:
1 Like #39
I meant hypothetically, of course. Imagine you are in a court room with Phones2udirect. You say you have the recorded delivery slips to prove they received your bill. They say you posted an empty envelope or the wrong billl which has now been shredded.

What could you then say?
1 Like #40
I don't think the small claims procedure gets to court, usually they pay up on the summons or you can pay a little more and have the baliffs sent in. Obviously the court want to see recorded delivery numbers, etc. It also costs £50 for baliffs I think but you can charge it to them as costs.

It probably won't come to that though if the cheque run really has taken place.
