Please post your feedback based on previous transactions you have had with this company, http://www.hotukdeals.com/go/?m=99&u=10 The Link .

In particular, you should refer to the following aspects of your experience with them:

1) Was it a Pay As You Go phone, accessory or a contract phone?
2) Were you were happy with the delivery speed?
3) Did you have any problems with the order itself?
4) Did you receive cashback with little or no problems, or did you have to push them for cashback or even take legal action?
5) Please comment on other aspects which you thought were good/bad.
6) Is there anything the company needs to improve on?
7) Would you recommend them or use them again personally?

It would also help if you could put your post in GREEN if you would recommend them or RED if you wouldn't use them again. If you do not have a strong opinion on this then you may wish to leave your post BLACK .

Who is The Link??

The Link is the UK's leading specialist mobile phone and communications retailer. Our first store opened in October 1994.

Now one of the fastest growing retailers on the high street, The Link has 292 stores (as at 3 May 2003) throughout the United Kingdom. Sales in 2002/2003 were £373 million.

The Link's success is based on offering customers informed, speedy and impartial advice about the different mobile networks and tariffs available, together with a wide range of communications products and services. These include mobile phones, fixed line telephones, faxes, pagers and personal organisers.

All our products can be demonstrated in-store by an expert sales team who will help find the products best suited for our customers’ needs.

The Link is committed to beating mobile crime, and our work in this area led to the development of the Immobilise campaign in conjunction with the mobile industry.

In 2002, The Link became the sole retailer working with the Metropolitan Police on Operation Safer Streets, helping to UVID mark more than 50,000 mobiles.

In 2003 The Link was voted ‘Retailer of the Year’ by readers of Mobile Choice magazine, and also received special commendation for its work against mobile crime in the Mobile Choice awards.

In my opinion do not touch TheLink with a barge pole. I have not experienced online but I went to my local store and bought a PAYG from 3. It was only £42, a bargain I thought for my 9-year old in emergencies.

Less than 2 months it developed a fault and I returned it to the store. They refused to exchange it or give a refund and stated their policy will only allow them to send it for repair. I refused and after an hour and calling 3, they agreed to exchange, however 6 weeks later when I eventually called them (they had lost all my contact details) the phone had not been replaced but sent for repair. I was then advised no fault was found and I had to keep the original handset.

Two days later, the same problem occured and I returned it again. This time not budging from wanting a refund they refused and offered a replacement. I declined and said I would contact trading standards as by law I should be able to get a refund. They again refused and I left with the faulty goods. I wrote a letter to the store manager and copied it to the MD advising of my legal rights. A week later I received a letter stating they will refund.

This was a £42 phone yet they refused a refund. Their company policy is refund or exchange within 28 days only, after that they will only offer a repair. This company believe they can operate outside of UK law!
Rant over but steer clear!!!

1) Was it a Pay As You Go phone, accessory or a contract phone?
No

2) Were you were happy with the delivery speed?
Took 3days so a bit slow.

3) Did you have any problems with the order itself?
No.

4) Did you receive cashback with little or no problems, or did you have to push them for cashback or even take legal action?
Slightly slow cashback and had to call them twice, all problems were sorted eventually.

5) Please comment on other aspects which you thought were good/bad.
BACS xfer would be preferable, cheques weren't exactly fast to arrive.

6) Is there anything the company needs to improve on?
Their customer services, their cashback department had some real idiots, makes "three" indian staff look compenent

7) Would you recommend them or use them again personally?
Depends, O2 have bought out TheLink back in June, so we'll see what O2 does to it come 2007 and more importantly what other people say about it under the new management.

Contract Phone
2) Were you were happy with the delivery speed?
Yes
3) Did you have any problems with the order itself?
No
4) Did you receive cashback with little or no problems, or did you have to push them for cashback or even take legal action?
Got 3 cashback claims out of 3, they provide a direct helpline number for cashback claims, you ring up with your postcode and they look you up and tell you when the claim was received and when to expect the cheque - very good customer service!
5) Please comment on other aspects which you thought were good/bad.
No bad experiences
6) Is there anything the company needs to improve on?
None
7) Would you recommend them or use them again personally?
Definitely, when my contract is up I'll be looking for another one from them again!

i have a 12 month contract with the link and have had nothing but trouble with claiming the cash back.

This is my third cash back contract deal but my first and last with the link.

I am still waiting for a cheque which should have been cashed early january 2007. The excuses have ranged from lack of receipt, which was not given at start of contract, but after claim was made. The next one was that it will take UPTO 28 days from receipt of claim to issue cheque, it has been 35 days since receipt of claim and they inform me that cheque is on the system to be printed and will take upto 14 days be issued:x ,

this is my first claim with them and i am not looking forward to the next 2

my advice, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE

It appears the Link (or the rather the company administering cashbacks for the link) have moved the goal posts on cashbacks.

1) Was it a Pay As You Go phone, accessory or a contract phone? Contract
2) Were you were happy with the delivery speed? Few days (was over the Christmas period though)
3) Did you have any problems with the order itself? No
4) Did you receive cashback with little or no problems, or did you have to push them for cashback or even take legal action? First cash-back successfully received (haven't got to the second yet). I called to check up on it and they were very polite and helpful (as i was going away and wouldn't be around if i needed to re-send it). This is unlike experiences with other mobile companies.
5) Please comment on other aspects which you thought were good/bad. No Comments really.
6) Is there anything the company needs to improve on? Not particularly.
7) Would you recommend them or use them again personally? Yes. I had a few worries because the network had disconnected me for a morning as they had messed up my Direct Debit and the cashback claim form states all cashback will be lost if you are disconnected. Anyway, i worried about it but The Link had no problem with it and paid the first cheque no problem.
