i was trying to get the v3i 12mth free 12mth contract on orange in Apr. i was declined by the network (TMO says), but still being charged the £1.99 admin fee for credit check.

i felt extremely unfair of them make this charge on me, given it was declined at such early stage. before they actually needed to do anything.

what's more, after being declined, i made the same order in CoolNewMobile, and was accepted. with the same details, same tariff, same phone.

it looks doggy the way TMO do business. as if i was declined through them, but why not with CNM?

1) Was it Pay As You Go or contract?
attempted contract.
2) Were you were happy with the delivery speed?
NA
3) Did you have any problems with the order itself?
declined by network, but being charged for £1.99 credit check admin fee.
4) Did you receive cashback with little or no problems, or did you have to push them for cashback or even take legal action?
NA
5) Please comment on other aspects which you thought were good/bad.
very bad. it appears fraudulent as my order got accepted in other retailer after i was told decline. which in effect, they could say you are declined, but still able to get £1.99 off you!
6) Is there anything the company needs to improve on?
remove the £1.99 credit check admin fee. or charge only to successful contract.
7) Would you recommend them or use them again personally?
no. watch out the £1.99 credit check admin fee. they charge even on declined contract.

Hmm... I was accepted by them and the phone came a few days later. Not got around to sending any claims yet, alhtough they've changed the T&Cs now.
#3
i didnt recieve any cashback forms with it ducky, do you know how exactly we get cashback from these guys??? does it arrive at a later time ?? :S
#4
When did you order??

You need to read the T&Cs on their website. They don't send them out with the phone, and they don't require any forms either - just a cover letter.

http://www.themobileoutlet.co.uk/Information.asp?txtMode=8

In particular refer to part 11.

It all depends when you bought your phone though. I purchased some time in April/May (will have to check!) and they have changed T&Cs since. I'm sticking with the old ones from when I purchased because they haven't informed me of any changes and my first claim would have already been sent under the new system so too late to switch now. ;)
#5
ooh i see ! hmm so you basically just have to keep every bill.....its more stringent than the e2save/osps offers but actually seems much more simple !!!! thanks for help, ignore my PM. Cheers
#6
Anyone with The Mobile Outlet, what have been your recent cashback experiences?
#7
I can't really say anything just yet, but I have sent the following off today by Royal Mail Special Delivery:

Covering letter
My first 6 original bills (which I have photocopied so I have proof of them)
Cashback Redemption Voucher 1
My original Despatch Note
A Copy of the T&Cs I had signed up to (as they have since changed)
A SAE

My last bill date was the 24th of July, and I didn't get the bill til Saturday. A bit poor really, and it puts added pressure on me. I know I've kinda left it late myself too, but it should get there tomorrow in all fairness, but as long as they get it by Monday, I don't really mind.

I've asked for them to e-mail me it's status, but whether they do or not remains to be seen.

I just have a bad feeling about all this. I don't know why, but I can't see myself getting anything. It will be just my luck they screw me out of something. Fingers crossed though. I hope to have something by mid September. I'll keep you posted.
#8
Best of luck. Not got around to sending a claim in for mine yet so will be good to see how yours goes!! ;)
#9
I have an update on my claim, but I'm not sure if it's good or not.

I sent the claim on Thursday by Royal Mail Special Delivery at about 4:30pm. So if Royal Mail are as good as their word, this should have been with The Mobile Outlet by 1pm the next day, so Friday.

They seem to have received it, as the SAE I sent with my claim has been sent back with all my original bills. I did ask for my Dispatch Note to be sent back too, but it hasn't been. So if it isn't paid, not having that would surely invalidate my claim when I come to fight the fact it wasn't paid, but hopefully it won't have to come to that! The Dispatch Note may be sent back with my cheque?! Fingers crossed anyway!

So I will start the countdown now of 28 days to see if I will receive my cheque within the 28 days they say it can take up to come.

More crossing of fingers now!

Many Thanks

Address is:

Cash Back Claims Dept
Millennium House
Fox Covert Lane
Misterton
Doncaster
DN10 4ER

Hi Ducky!

That's the address for the MobileShop not Mobile Outlet..

I noticed this because I've just sent a claim to Mobileshop..
#14
Oops!! Sorry!! I have that address somewhere...
#15
Correct address:

Suite 3-4
Riverdale House
Dockfield Road
Shipley
BD17 7AD

I'd write on the envelope that it's for the cashback claims.
#16
I personally posted it to the address on the website.

3/4 Riverdale House
Dockfield Road
Shipley
BD17 7AD

Whether this is right or wrong remains to be seen. I sent it by Special Delivery on Thursday, sent a SAE to be sent my original bills back, and had them back 3 days later on the Saturday.

Still no cheque, but they do say it can take up to 28 (or maybe 21) days.

I'll post any news if and when I get any. My fingers are still crossed!
#17
That's the same address as I posted, just written a little differently. ;)

Seen as they have sent the bills back it means that they have received it and I presume they'd have alerted you to any problems at the time.
#18
That's my thoughts too, but I am just unsure of the whole situation. Maybe unnecessarily, but it's things like sending them back so quickly makes me a bit suspiscious.

They may be getting rid of them to say "we never saw them, and it's past the 21 days". Also, I don't see the need to request the originals if all they are going to do is send them back by return of post. I don't know what they do with them, maybe take a copy for their own records, but it would seem that they took them out of the envelope, and put them back in the one I sent!

Another thing is, why couldn't they have sent the cheque to me with my bills?

ARGH! I just want my money! :D

They change ther T&C's to often. I have had 3 phones from them in the past and had problems with all the cashback claims. Mainly because the T&C's vary for each deal. They send very little info out with the phones about the cashback. Been with them for over a year and will not be going back ever.
#20
Hi all,

I have just ordered a phone through Mobile Outlet. I slavishly printed out the T&Cs from their website so that I would be able to refer to them if they changed later... Within 48hrs there was a delivery slip from the postman and by the following day I had my new phone. Along with the phone came the Despatch note - which the T&Cs are quite clear must be returned with the first claim. Guess what is printed on the back of it? Yup, the full T&Cs you have signed up to... could have saved some paper there then.

The thing I like about the T&Cs is that it clearly states which bills should be sent in - none of this 'the bill which proves you've had the phone 120 days' malarky which I've seen elsewhere and has caused others to screw up their cashback - simply 'send in bills 1 through 4 within 21 days of receiving bill 4'.

I also contacted them to ask whether porting a phone number would affect my cashback (I've read more horror stories from other suppliers where this simple slip cost £200 for the phone and all cashback was lost...). I contacted Mobile Outlet first by phone, and then by email as a way of written confirmation and both times received the answer that porting a number is allowed (phew). I did not have to queue long on the phone, and my email was also replied to efficiently - within 48hrs.

Obviously the $64,000 question is whether the actual cash rebate goes as smoothly, and until that time I'll still be a little nervous - but so far I'd say I was very pleased with the experience. :|

Oh, and I've ordered a second phone for the wife.

adyjoy, I am contemplating getting the K750i deal on Panther45 from Mobile Outket UK. However, I have a quick question. When you say Bill 1 to 4, which bill does "Bill 1" refer to?

Do you get a bill before the contract starts?

Cheers.

So far things have been pretty straightforward - no bills yet, just waiting for my first month's bill from Orange - which will be bill 1...

For clarification; the only correspondance I have recieved from Mobile Outlet was a despatch note with the phone clearly marked 'despatch note'

Hope this helps...
#23
sent my wifes first 4 bills and the despatch note by royal mail special delivery last Tues, the letter was delivered on time the next day according to the royal mail website. I also sent a self addressed envelope, not stamped, as it says in there terms and conditions a self addressed envelope, so far my wife hasn't heard a thing not even an e mail confirmation or text message, watch this space.

My brother and sister are with mobileoutlet and they received their cashback no problems (sister received it last month and bro received it 2 months ago). Basically they were a bit slow at giving the cashback and you they had to phone them up to be updated. But at the end of the day, i think with this company, if you post your bills etc at the right time then you will get your cashback (although that is not the case with all companies).
#26
the terms and conditions state self addressed envelope NOT sae, if it had said sae I would have put a stamp on it:-D
#27
Anyone have a non-0870 number I can phone as this is proving rather expensive calling them up.
#28
Sorry couldnt find any ...

Today was the day I finally got my cheque from The Mobile Outlet!

I make it that it was 26 working days from sending my claim off, so they were just in the 28 day time period.

I am almost amazed it worked to be honest! Just want to make sure it clears now! :D
#30
I have two phones purchased with this company. When I got them in the T&Cs stated to send the first 6 bills in to claim cashback.(bought in the middle of May)
I don't want to screw this up. I'll send special delivery once I have my sixth bill(5 so far), what else do i need to send to be sure of cahback? T8RSP seems to have managed it, fingers crossed.
#31
Like I said in post number 10, this is what I sent:

Covering letter
My first 6 original bills (which I have photocopied so I have proof of them)
Cashback Redemption Voucher 1
My original Despatch Note
A Copy of the T&Cs I had signed up to (as they have since changed)
A SAE (Stamped self addressed envelope! Just thought I'd say exactly what I did as there has been some 'confusion' about this.

It worked, but the proof in the pudding will be if a) the cheque clears and b) if I get the remaining £157.50 when it comes to claming that.

A lot of confusion has led to people not getting their second installment due to the wording. I know it should only take a phone call to get everything clarified, but as many people have said, you seem to be waiting in a queue for a while, and whilst it's not £1 a minute or anything, but hanging on for 25 minutes on average for me a few times all adds up, and when you have to send everything by a reliable method of postage such as Special Delivery, that does start to eat in to your cashback. But around £30 (my own projected cost!) for a free 12 month contract still isn't too bad.

Hope you get yours!
#32
does anybody know the actual date when the terms and conditions changed? I think they're trying to pull a fast one with my cashback claim
#33
Not sure but have you got a copy of the terms and conditions you signed up to? That's the only version you need to worry about.
#34
I cannot stress enough, STAY AWAY FROM THESE RIP OF MERCHANTS.

They put me on the wrong tarriff, didn't answer any of my emails. They put me on the 18 month 800 mins 200 texts Panther 45 instead of the 400 mins 100 texts Panther 45, and gave me no customer service via email about changing it.

I phoned up to cancel the contract, and they said the returns dept would call me back within 48 hours. They never did. This was 3 weeks ago.

They don't answer any emails I send them. AVOID THESE *******S.

just curoius as i took out a cashback deal form them about a year ago now. i sent off bills 1-6 and have successfully recieved part of my cashback. since then i have sent in my 11th bill and have just sent off my 12th bill for the remiainder of my cashback to be paid.

now i am looking to get another deal and was wondering if i can now move networks?? as far as im aware its been 12months as i have recieved 12bills, is it ok to move noetworks now or would this invalidate my cashback (i have already sent of my 12th bill)

im currently on "3" and looking to move to "orange"

From mobile outlet, if anyone has any comments about mobileoutlet, now is a good time to let people know your experiences if you haven't already.
#38
Just asked if they'd received my last 6 bills which i posted 2 weeks ago, and hey presto "it's not showing on the system".

I got proof of postage, but no photocopies of bills or special delivery -- they paid out no problem first time round, so thought it'd be the same again.

Motto - don't use TheMobileOutlet as they're rip off merchants and miraculously 'lose' cashback requests.

Did you send yours back with a chequeback voucher or was your contract on the newer terms and conditions.

I was wondering if you (or anyone else) could show me what I need to put in writing to them along with my bills.
#40
I'm not saying that this is 100% correct, but I'm sending my cashback claim off tomorrow under the old terms and conditions which were in place when I purchased, as they have not notified me of any changes.

I'm sending...

1) The 6 bills.
2) Dispatch note (keeping photocopy).
3) Photocopy of T&Cs I signed up to which I had printed.
4) SAE to return dispatch note and any other paperwork they can return to me.
5) A cover letter simply explaining I'm claiming cashback for month 6 and I'm including a copy of the T&Cs I signed upto and an SAE for them to return my dispatch note and other paperwork.

I didn't read the T&Cs properly (hypocritical of me, I know) but I'm sending off for month 6 rather than bill 6 which I received in September, so I'm hoping that's right.

I'll let you know how I get on. Should be sent off tomorrow within my 21 day claim period and I should receive cashback within 28 days!

REMEMBER that this is the old T&C's I'm adhering to, not the current ones. I have my fingers crossed!!

And to answer your question workaholic... I was sent checkback vouchers but was sent another letter telling me not to use them as they sent out the wrong T&Cs, and that I should just send a cover letter.
