we live on a corner plot and our back garden is over looked by houses across the cul-de-sac, as we live on a slight hill our fence is 6ft high from the road side but only 3.5ft high from our garden side ( does this make sense?) are we legally allowed to put a higher fence up? our fence is a brick one with curved wooden panels slotted in, would we be allowed to put higher panels up? thanks to anyone who answers x

good evening
i use to be in the building
i believe anything over 6ft had to have planning permission.
hope this helps
speak to your local council and explain the situation they might come up with an idea.

yeah...over 6ft needs planning, and its measured from the ground, not from the nearest hill !

its a sensible rule though....do you know how much force a 1 square metre of fence produces in a gale.........

its 6ft for a reason !
