I have seen on this forum people being obviously racist and putting on jokes which relates to a religion and laugh if off when people get offended!!

Then their is always an argument saying that whats wrong with the "Joke"?

There's a thin line between joking about a religion and insulting it. It's all about how a person perceives the joke.
If you're referring to the Jihad one, personally I wouldn't call that *intentionally* racist..... Unless guv can tell me otherwise?

I think that if you jokingly insult someone's religion they'll be more offended then if you insult someone's nationality. So to keep it safe stay away from religious jokes.
That’s my opinion anyway.

The joke was a joke but when people leave comments aiming at a certain religion or whatever, it goes out of hand!

Humour is very subjective, but there are far to many people on here without any sense of humour.

Its ok to say Paddy jokes and and have an Essex girl thread etc. That seems to be ok with everyone. Talk about a race or religion that isnt predominately white, then it's wrong.

Double standards.

Why is it that religion enjoys such a privileged place in society? No other type of belief seems to be held to the same standard at all. What makes it so special that you can't make fun of it?

How insulting is it really when all you're taking the mickey out of is someone's imaginary friend?

Personally I believe in the giant teapot in the sky. It's no less likely than any other religion. I believed in Santa and the Tooth Fairy until I was 9! Just because you believe it, doesn't make it true.

When you get down to it, there are so many different religions, all with different beliefs, different gods, different afterlifes, that really, some of them have to be wrong, cos there's no way they could all be right. Especially since the fundamental cornerstone of most religions states that X God and X religion is the only true god and religion. What happens to all the others?

Anyway, I digress. If you can't tell jokes about:

Religion
Black people
White people
Jewish People
Blondes
The Irish
The Australians
Doctors
Waiters
Etc
Etc
Etc................................because offence may be caused. What exactly is left that we can make jokes about?

Surely the point is that they're jokes! They're supposed to poke fun at stereotypes, idiosyncracies and the like. I've been losing my hair for years, but I don't get offended by "Bald" jokes. I find them quite amusing.

If you really wanted to cause offence to a religion or other group there are much better ways than telling jokes about it.

Our world is going Political Correctness MAD!

The title says it all 'Issues'. They are your issues but not the majority of peoples. Pandering to the minorities in the world is making a very uncomfortable world for the majority of us who would rather live and let live and enjoy our lives.

If I did see anything which went against obviously I would find it wrong, I would not post stupid comments. This is inot only about Muslims, but yet again the "Jokes" which get posted on a religion are only on Islam!

Some of way may not believe in religion and when others do, you should respect that? Right?

Have to disagree to a point. Religion is something people choose to believe in and so it's more personal. A person’s accent, nationality etc. isn't theirs by choice. They're stuck with it (well accent i suppose they could change). When you attack someone’s beliefs you should have the courtesy to find out whether they're okay with it first. If they are then by all means joke away. But if they aren't and you know that they aren't... out of respect you should steer well clear from it.
People blame the 'kids these days' saying they have no respect, no discipline and no manners. All you have to do is take a look at some adults and you'll see why. Something that might be a joke today won’t necessarily be taken as a joke tomorrow. Things always get blown out of proportion on a daily basis.

That's right. Suicide bombers are not funny. Especially since there's evidence that they're martyring themselves and killing others for 70 raisins, not virgins.

A recent study has shown that certain parts of the original religious text were originally Syriac, not Arabic. If read in Syriac you get raisins of crystal clarity, not unsullied virgins. Which is not as far-fetched as it may originally sound, since back when the text was written food of such amazing quality was extremely expensive and highly prized.

I could take offence at the Essex girl thread, pictures of half naked women, dumb women jokes, Catholic jokes.....the list could go on and on regarding what is posted on here.

I 'choose' not to make an issue of it.

Easy enough to do if you want.

Unless it's personally directed at you, then take it as a joke.

Your race or religion is no bigger or better than the next persons. The sooner people realise that, the better this world will be.

Like you say they are "Martyring" themselves but why bring that in? You have just proven my point, you have looked in the religion Islam and tried to find out the so called lies which is made up by the media which is obviously against the fastest growing religion in the world!

So can you answer me one question? Why you had to show me the above info? When it has got nothing to do with this?

Why is it ok to make jokes about someones political views then? I would also disagree about it being a choice - if you face rejection from your family if you disbelieve that isn't a choice.

All you need to do is look at Scandinavia. Top in health, education, wealth, happiness, peace - and predominately atheist. Look at the most religious parts of the world and they are the most dangerous, poorly educated places. The old 'kids these days' argument is pathetic...

"The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers." - SOCRATES (469-399BC)
