Are the above titles only available to be downloaded from the playstation store?

To be played on the ps3 I mean?

I think so. They were PS1 Games I think and as far as I know not even the launch 60gb are backwards compat with ps1 games.

The PS3 60GB can play both PS1 and 2 games.

FF7 definitely is not sure about 8 though.

Edit: 8 is too. They put it up on the 4th Feb [1]

oh and FF8 is buggy when playing it from disc on a UK PS3. Well, it was when I tried last year on mine. Couldn't get past the Comms Towers at Dollet as it froze there at the end of the battle up the top of the tower..

If I download them off the playstation store, will the 'quality' be higher as opposed to playing them from ps1 disks?

The quality will be the same as ps1 discs, although playing on an HD TV will improve things slightly.

I would say so although I've heard bad stories about people trying to play ps1 discs and having the games crash midway. I haven't played on ps1 games before so I can't comment on the reliability. Good choice in both FF games btw!:thumbsup:

checked on auction, and each selling for £20+ :w00t:, so think I'm going to download instead.
I'll probs buy FF9 also, but on disk.
