Hmm id just go for the normal fiesta. Least run that about until your confidence grows with driving then get it. Mind your insurance too, it would be more for the ST i would imagine

about £900 for normal fiesta and £1600 for st! i can get an st for only £2000 more than a 1.2 hence the reason im thinking about the st. id be daft to get the 1.2 based on the prices though wouldnt i?

I think it is a ridiculous idea. The amount of crashed I have dealt with involving 'P' plates and cars they can't handle are immense. I would advise something basic, like Faiza says until you have some driving skills. Passing your test does not make you a good driver in the slightest. That title only comes with practice, time and learning. Good luck with your test.

Go for it dawg.

I'm 17 and I've got a Beamer but I supose a Fiesta ST isn't that bad for a first car.

i know all that stuff about you dont start learning til you drive on your own, but you can still be sensible in a high powered car until confidence grows

everyones got one nowadays..fiestas are more rare on the roads!

Even if you just have the normal one for a couple of months or so.. see how it is and how you find the roads, then take it from there. You could have the best car in the world and still be a rubbish driver.

I was exactly like you when I was first doing my test (I was 17).

Bought a brand new Fiat Punto Sporting Speedgear and though I drive sensibly (bit of a girl racer but nothing illegal), you are bound to put a mark her and there whilst you are still getting the hang of the car. I scraped the underneath of the side skirt in a petrol station which wasn't worth claiming on insurance for but didn't look nice, a woman reversed out of her drive into the front of my car and then 2 weeks after that I was tired and driving in very, very heavy rain in the night time down a backstreet and didn't realise that I had to give way on my road until it was too late and a car crashed into me.

On top of that, my insurance was £2500 for the year and the insurance group for that car has increased since then!

Because you may well have a little bump or scrape in your first few months (obviously I hope you don't) wouldn't it be better to just pick up something low-cost with cheap insurance for 6 months or so and also get your pass-plus in the meantime before upgrading to a more expensive/flashier car.

I know you probably won't take any notice of a complete stranger like me and when you are young you tend to need to find out things for yourself but just think sensibly about not only the initial cost, you then have to pay that extra £700odd for insurance every year and then you also have the increased running costs to take into account.

It'll be another JFK no show regarding car pictures - put simply, his BMW doesn't exist :-D

My golf's under side is 1-2 inches off the ground, i hate it my exhaust looks like i broken *****

FWIW, I'd have thought a 2.0 car is a bit too powerful for a first time driver - get a year under your belt and then think about it - I started off with a 1.0 (not through choice!) and a year later went up to a 1.6 which if you look at Clio's etc offer performance not too dissimilar to the Fiesta ST and are a darn sight cheaper. Can't beat an ST though, although after my test drive yesterday I'm thinking of going from Focus ST to RS :-D

i dont mind clios but i have heard they have alot of problems, also an ex got one and he was forever fixing it.
focus rs=yummy!
#35
I had mine for four years and never had a single problem with it bar it failing to start once after not being used for two weeks. Granted it doesn't have an 'ST' badge but it's a darn site cheaper to run!

Yeah - had my ST for two years, really can't decide whether to part exchange for a new RS or go for something like a new Scooby with the discounts they are currently offering

go for the rs, the new imprezas are ugly
#37
I think I must be in a minority of liking the new look! Sub 5 second 0-60 too :-D No chance of a discount on the new RS, can get a fair bit off the WRX STi 330, decisions decisions :)

Have a gander on this website, I'm sure you will be able to pick up plenty of useful info regarding the Fiesta (I use the Focus one!)
