Film Editing Software - Advice??

Hi,

I've just purchased a HD Camcorder - A HVC model which can do full HD to 1080. The software that has come with it is a total joke though.

Does anyone out there who regularly edits films know of anything they could suggest to me please? My aim is to burn these to DVD once edited. However i know that DVD cant cope with full 1080 HD and in the future i guess a blu-ray recorder would be needed.

Thanks in advance on this.

"editing" can mean a lot of things, is it just basic trimming of videos you need to do? try downloading a 30 day trial of adobe premier or sony vegas it'll do everything you'll ever need. I personally wouldnt invest in a blu ray burner if its only for home movies, its an un-required expense also blu rays are 1440x1080p not 1920x1080

Take a look at Sony Vegas: http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/vegassoftware

I tried Adobe Premiere, but hated it. After just a few days of playing with Vegas I plumped up the ca$h and paid for it (the Pro version). I've never looked back. It's just so intuitive, and it's performed flawlessly with all of the SD and HD (HDV and AVCHD) media I've thrown at it. "Vegas Movie Studio Platinum" or "Vegas Movie Studio HD" might be more than enough for your needs, and they're considerably cheaper than the Pro edition.

I hope this helps

Although not greats for sports footage as vegas forces motion blur on all footage so if your fliming something fast paced (in my case, american football) then it can look a bit pish when you render the video, although I agree it is easier to use then premier.

The DVD architect add on is superb though and the latest version handles the burning of HD video to blu ray

I'm on my Apple Mac at the moment, so I can't take a look, but I'm sure the motion blurring can be both changed (different types of blur) and turned off completely. I'll take a look later (as I need to grab my Christmas HD footage anyway). I can't say I've ever had any bad experience with blur, and I've filmed a lot of fast paced footage (car/bike racing, sports days, kids playing etc).

Hi,

I've gone for Corel Video Studio 12: Managed to put together a really nice idsc with menus and decent efffects on the editing. I have a bit of a problem however getting this to disc.,.....

There does not seem to be any way of doing this.

I have got all my data ready and then gone to 3. Share.

From this i select create disc, and then select the DVD option. This brings up a nice pop up where i can create the menu.

Where do I go next as there is nothing here enabling me to burn it or even create it anymore. If i go to the close button on this is save the changes i have made and returns me to the main bit or Corel again.

Basically, i am either missing something very obvious (100% likely), or this programme is a joke.

PLease, please help me on this.
