do it direct from your router. can block port numbers and schedule them for blocking the likes of msn. then can block websites on the router as well, and schedule them if needed.

is free, and I have set it up a few times, very effective, and only the password you set can bypass it

Damn my kids are going to be smart on computers, though the wife has said they will be limited to 1hr a week. Poor kids.

if they were to make it impossible to remove, people would complain all the more

also, you can custom block the words k9, so any site cannot be loaded, so they wouldnt find it

if your kids are that capable of doing stuff, them im afraid you are outsmarted and you have no chance anyway.. I would check your credit and bank accounts as your kids have probably already fleeced you!

Im just saying any protection has limits, blocking it in the router is easy to bypass, reset the router

blocking it in hosts is easy, delete the hosts file

yes, adults who know how stuff works can get around it, filtering software is for kids, they wont be able to do this,

and if they can, nothing will stop them

Its true, we managed it whilst at uni to get round in halls of residence and fleece the backbone server and use that for our own use. never got stopped either once whilst i was there.

I don't know age 13 I upgraded a 486DX to a 486DX2 had to set up the jumpers right, at 15 I did work experience at a computer consulates fixing their computers got £50 a week. I'm going to make sure my kids know everything about computers. Future wars will be fought online.

It looks like YOUR future wars will be fought over going online, with your kids

prepare to be outsmarted and YOUR internet blocked whilst the kids enjoy freedom....

you only have to manage to outsmart them till you get them to leave home, then you can heave a sigh of relief....

no all kids take to this techie lark anyway, some will outsmart you, others will just google for porn at their friends house

The real point comes down to using web filtering in the early days, just to help them around this cess pit we call the internet
, and later having to trust them without it

I seem to think you will end up putting pound coins in it to get online while your kids have the key to it, and use it for pocket money

see, what a bit of browsing can do! now you know why you need blocking software!
