Ok my 7yr old wants to play FF8,I've got a copy of it on Playstation and a copy on PC,I've not played the PC version before so don't know if there any differences or whatever.Which format would he find it easier to play?

Will it run smoothly on my PC as its an original PC version not the ones in like a dvd case that came out later on cos sometimes I've had bother with older games for whatever reason. Our PC just pretty average,my partner plays Total War Medieval 2 on here so its not like its well old etc.

i would have thought the playstation version be easier, my son certainly thought so. he played ff7 and ff8 when he was about age, younger even.

To tell you the truth i'd play it on the PS. Be much more fluent and just better experience with a controller etc. I've played it on both and enjoyed the PS one a lot more. 7 years old? Wow and he wants to play FF8 lol, makes me feel well old lol

i would say playstation (i am bias though), since it is designed for that very purpose. the controller is easier than a keyboard, tv is better than a pc monitor (usually), and pcs crash easily. just an opinion though...

excellent game by the way

the mistake i made was not changing the limit break i wanted rinoa to learn, make sure he does this! but yeah that is young to wanna play an ff game, i was only really up for crash bandicoot etc around that age, only really got into final fantasy around 15 ish

an older game isn't going to be more likely to make your pc crash, i'm just saying a pc is more likely to crash/freeze up than a playstation

if you're really hardcore, you'll hunt down a pocketstation for the extra chocobo game! i, sadly, did not have access to a pocketstation....

Yeh we'll probably try it on Playstation next week. At moment he mainly plays Sonic,Mario,we have Wii and DS too,he took an interest at Zelda but I think FF8 be a nice one to start on to move away from the cartoon, film themed ones.
I remember the Pocketstation but never owned one.

The playstation will be far the better choice.

A proper controller will be a lot easier to use than the mouse/keyboard. Plus he won't have to turn on his PC and wait for it to start if he wants to play it. And i'm sure your TV is bigger than your PC monitor too!

I was a bit dissapointed with 8, i think the series has went downhill since 7, which is my favourite game of all time nevermind my favourite final fantasy! Get him playing that instead

I prefer 8, I think 7 is harder, even I didn't get all of the machina or whatever it was called, you needed certain ones equipped with certain others to beat certain extras, take Emerald Weapon,I've never defeated it. Is been a while myself since I played all those.

omega weapon in 8 is also impossible, and you haven't played ff7 properly until you get knights of the round...

Its possible, there vids on YouTube and tons of strategies online about the way to go doing it.
think I did get knights of the round,I had a list off the net where everything was located when i played it for 3rd time or something but as i said i get everything.

yeah i used a list on the internet, i wasn't gonna go working out how to breed a golden chocobo, as for strategies of how to fight bosses they cast a shadow over the point of the game in my opinion...

Depending on your pc it might actually be too powerful to run the game propperly, which is the case for most i believe. I recomend your son skipps 8 and goes straight to 9. 8 Is good but very different and far harder. Where as 9 is more suited.
